This course ate me up off the tee (seriously, look at my R2 scorecard back nine. one fir and 9 girs), played consistent but not quite at the level I wanted to but a -10 -9 -10 -9 (-38 total) should hopefully push me up into Euro and might put me in with the top dogs if I'm lucky. Probably not the type of course to hit driver on every hole, which is essentially what I did, but I recovered well enough most of the time and probably got helped more than hurt with that approach. This is definitely a cerebral course and one that can bite you hard if you don't pay attention.

Currently kicking around mid CC-C using Pro clubs.... Tried the Master set but too frustrating on the PC using an XBox1 controller. Aiming for CC-A where I will eventually change to Master clubs & tough it out regardless. Round 1/. -10 (Great start) Round 2/. -9 (That'll do me thinks) Round 3/. -8 (Not bad, decent consistency) Round 4/. -2 (Dohhhhh!! Why do always have at least 1 disaster round?) 29 under for the event (pro clubs).... no idea if that will trigger promotion?

Gutted, had high hopes for this Promotional Event. Currently CC-F shooting -30 to -40 with Pros most weeks. Had the big decision to make for this do I stick with Pros aim for CC-A or take the risk with Masters as there's so many spaces Web and Euro. Made the wrong decision -1 for the Event after 4 rounds with Masters Tough Course with really tough pin positions.

Started off quite happy with 63s in each of the first two rounds but there always has to be one disappointing round and this time it was a 70 in the 3rd... which I wasn't too unhappy with in the end after 3 bogeys on the front 9 and struggling to get to even par for the majority of the round. A final round 67 was also a bit of a let down and was when I decided that although this course is amazing, it's also a bit of a dick. The number of nicely hit drives that bounce 90 degrees into a bunker and the perfect approach shots that are a few feet from the hole before rolling off down a slope and into a ditch... argh! -21 in the end, no idea if that's promotion material from CC-D, but I had a great time - I think...

I gave up after about 12 holes. I like and support the idea of promotion events that allow people to get fast track performances, unfortunately I wish it had been on a course that would allow us to showcase our skills. Being able to hit a ribbon thin fairway in a high cross wind is a good test. Trying to hit a ribbon thin fair way in high cross winds where the landing area has so many undulations that there is no way of knowing which way the ball will skip once it hits is not. I've practiced this course probably 8 times or under the same conditions and it was always the same. A ball that hits the middle of the fairway has equal chance of skipping forward safely, jumping 90 degrees to one side or the other and end up in the heavy rough or change directions multiple times as it bounces and find some pot bunker. There is simply no way of knowing. To be fair there were two shots I hit that should have ended up in the rough that ricochet 7 times and some how found the fairway but for me that isn't showcasing skills, it is bringing luck into the game far more than it should, especially for an event like this.
I was striking the ball well. Tempo issues were minimal but in this particular round if there was a way the ball could bounce that would find me in the worst shape, that is where it would bounce to, even when using a lesser club off the tee. There is no way to practice course management on a course like this. You gotta pick an area you want to land in and hope nothing nefarious happens, then and only then do you got your shot at the green. Out of 12 holes I think I was 60% FIR. On the first reachable par 5 I hit a gorgeous shot that some how managed to find the rough after it hopped and changed direction three times.
Good luck to those who can conquer this course, luck will need to be on your side. I think the scores at the top of the leader board says it all. So many with a 56 or 58 one round and a 62 to 64 the next. The conditions aren't so different between the two rounds just the bounces. I hope the next promotion event will be more skill based than flipping a coin in the air and trying to have it land on sides.

Does anyone have any idea of rough progression scores for promotion?
In CC-D at the moment and shot -10 with Masters. I feel that's not going to be enough.
The tour is also looking to cut 29 players out of CC-D and the majority of players in the league seem to play with Pro clubs, so maybe that'll go in my favour? Any ideas?
P.S. sorry for the massive font. On my phone and it doesn't seem to want to recognise when I try change to smaller font size

There is a challenging teeshot that makes you think about putting driver away, and then there's Klinko This is Klinko

The event is meant for promotion only, so even if the count after the event is still over target, they won't demote anyone and will stay a bit overstocked. The negative number means they won't accept any more tour members from CC-E and below unless 30+ CC-D players promote upwards.

Keeping in mind that I both have no stake in this event AND that I was able to nuke this course, I support this statement. There is a challenging teeshot that makes you think about putting driver away, and then there's Klinko This is Klinko Agreed. I sped golf through the Euro course, burned my last promotion mark on that course. Probably a mistake to play it after this one but meh. It is so hard to play serious golf, keep focused and gain enjoyment from a game that when you hit what you think is an excellent shot, hits the middle of the fairway, ends up in some bunker or 20 yards into the rough. The whole point of golf is to control the little white ball. When that one thing is taken away and put in a pinball machine, the randomness just makes it a chore than fun.
Probably the reason you were able to destroy it is your ability to hit those f/f shots and clear all obstacles and if you did end up in trouble you were 30-40 yards further up so it made it easier to recover. Most of my recovery shots required a low iron to even have a chance to hit the green.

So I initially only gave 5 slots to PGA so that we wouldn't have a slew of guys promote up and be overwhelmed by the beast that is the PGA (like happened to a few after the first event). That said, looking at how the leaderboard is shaping up, I'm going to open up 5 more PGA slots to the guys that round out the top 10. Guys in 5th-10th will have option to opt out of PGA and go Euro but I don't think there will be many takers. The PGA could use a few more members and the guys currently sitting in those slots would have no issues fitting in.
This will open up a few more slots for other members as well further down the tours.

Perfect! I have the same feeling! Looks like a Pimball !!!! Horrible hit the middle of the farway and the ball jump like crazy for a bunker or something. I realized that in some holes, using a driver or wood at the start, could be a lottery. I will continue at CCA ...

Played my first two rounds yesterday and even though the final scores are the same for both rounds (-6), I'm not equally satisfied. In the first round, my approach game was as good as it gets for me, but I couldn't cash in from short range on three occasions. Hence, that first round felt like a bit like a missed opportunity. In contrast, my swing was not consistent anymore in the second round. Therefore I couldn't profit from the low winds, and I had to fight every hole to get a decent lie on the green. My bad play peaked on the 16th with a double bogey. Fortunately, I saved myself with a very elegant 30 foot eagle putt through a difficult side slope on the par 5 right afterwards. The resulting -6 felt way better than that of the first round. So, I'm standing at -12 after two, which I found ok until I read about @spartan4knight 's performance a few minutes ago. Since, for rivalry reasons, I need to stay as close to him as possible, I have to improve quite a bit in the remaining two rounds. Difficult task on this challenging course. Yesterday I had the bad idea of finishing my remaining two rounds after a long day at work. My lack of concentration was immediately penalized with some difficult lies. I hit quite a few bunkers, and even if I missed them, I had to work myself out of some deep rough with considerable slope. Especially in round 3, I added some bad putts from moderate distance. In round 4, I didn't manage to get close to the pin at all. There, however, I saved myself with two eagles on the reachable par 5s. All in all, I only managed to add a -1 and a -4 to my scorecard, so that I'm currently sitting in the clubhouse at -17. Unfortunately, this means that I have to say farewell to @spartan4knight, who performed way better than I did. It will be interesting to see how other CC-B rivalry players perform.

Mediocre on the PGA is still a mile ahead of most of us even on the Euro and miles ahead of others still. I played a couple rounds here, managed a -14 and a -5 in the same conditions. With most links courses it all depends on the bounces you get. First round I missed one fairway, second round missed about 1/2 of them. Just all about the bounces. I can hit a p/f fairly decently but the swing is just a different beast.
I noticed with a lot of those hazard placements you're better off in the rough with a wedge than laying back. I was f/f not caring if I found fairway or not, and I missed ALOT. not that the scores shows it<my point> Anyway my opinion, this course is going to play hard for most people, and for all wrong reasons. Hoping for a lucky bounce in your 10 yard wide landing area with all these crazy hills. A promotional event shouldn't be a lottery. Course is pretty good, but for God's sake open up those landing areas just a wee bit! i don't like courses that scatter bunkers all around the 285 mark, then drop back to a 3 wood and hey what do you know, more scattered bunkers in the landing spot. its cookie cutter when courses do that and I don't like it. I actually don't have much of a problem hitting into them, but its still ridiculous with a 4 yard wide fairway with bunkers all over the landing zones.

Rounds 1 & 2 with head and tail winds were pretty testing, but the crosswinds in 3&4 were truly brutal. Then add in the number of bad bounces that left perfect shots in the rough with an awkward lie. We will see but seems it was too much luck involved to score well in the last two days.
