Yeah, the course management is key and you'll just have to work on the 20 footers and in. Just have to make a lot of those. That'll come with more time and confidence on the greens. Also to your other point, as you eliminate the bogies more, your scores will get into the double digit under par territory more. Just stick with it. One main thing is that you just have to try to not get discouraged, especially on the higher tours, because there will be guys that are shooting a ton under par. Basically all of them will be PS4 players because for whatever reason it just seems easier. That's why I kinda set a goal of T25 (for me) for each tournament and hope that I can do better. I actually had T10 last week because I think another player dropped off the leaderboard, but I don't often get top 10s. I'm 43rd in the WGR but almost all of the ones ahead of me are PS4, so it's an uphill battle. This week is tough for me particularly because courses where you have to go crazy low I struggle on (mental block I think). I enjoy the courses that are more challenging and it's where I feel my short game pays me a lot of dividends. I'm barely making the cut this week, so I'm not immune to the rough times on the course. Just take it in stride! Put in the work and you'll be rewarded for sure! I know of a couple of Xbox players that have bought the game on PS4 just to keep their position on the WGR (one of them is currently 27 on WGR and I have lost a bit of respect for him) something I would never do and there is data out there showing PS4 is the easier platform to score on for whatever reason. I tend to like the tougher conditions especially greens being a good lag putter. As I said before I have just started seriously trying the master clubs as I felt the admins are selecting more and more long courses which are a disadvantage to the pro club set even though the irons are generally more accurate. Thank you for all the advice I will try and put it into practice So I know who you're talking about. And I knew when he went from XB1 to PS4. I was disappointed as well because he was one of the ones I was trying to chase down on the proverbial "XB1 Leaderboard". I remember seeing him on the in-game leaderboards and then all of a sudden he was gone. But that's part of the allure of the challenge for me. I want to scale the WGR on XB1 to show that we can. I know we all can so some of these PS4 guys can take notice of us.I also felt bad that we had a guy that was in the top 10 of the WGR but ever since the newest game has come out he's fallen off. Still top 100 but he's struggled. I hope he finds his game too. But guys like #27 in the WGR are just motivation to try to keep climbing. I've moved from 114 to 43 in a year's time. There's no reason that any of us can't move up the rankings that way! I like to think that XB1 guys can compete with anyone from any platform. Now we just have to prove it

I hope you donβt mind I added you on Xbox live not that we would be able to play online because of the time difference.

Good luck for the weekend xxossi83xx and killahbeaz132, you're the only 2 that made the cut this week. I played steady but not great in the 1st round, but all over the place in the 2nd with a -7 in easy conditions. Annoying! Would rather miss the cut on a hard course. Roll on next week! Good luck lads!

I played horribly in round 1 and shot -7. Pulled out a really good round 2 of -14 to make the cut. I shot -12 in round 3 and should have been a lot better. Missed some short putts and had a very fast swing at a bad time. So I'm hoping for a great round 4 so I can try to get back inside the top 25. May be a tough ask though. I'm up for the challenge however!
That dreaded 6th hole pin placement I've seen in a practice round. It's hard, I tripled that hole in a practice round because if you don't make it, it's a 20+ ft putt with 1 ft uphill. I'll let you guys know about how it goes. I'll probably play it tonight since I'll be out of town Saturday.
Thanks for the well wishes guys!

I'm honestly pretty much done trying to figure out master clubs on this game. I've actually become worse since the season started. Swing tempo on xb1 master clubs has become like playing Russian roulette for me, and it's just not fun anymore. I can go 5 holes in a row with a fast OR slow downswing and it completely messes up the shot, plus the variety of misses I get don't make sense, I'll have swings that feel fast that are slow or other way around. Or try to hit a f-f driver and it ends up p-p. Anyone else have that??
I've started using pro clubs in other societies and head to head play, and it's been more enjoyable.

I do get a random one now and again but mostly PP and PF for me. I personally enjoy the game with master clubs bit it still infuriates me a lot, but then so does real golf lol. I haven't ever wanted to drop down to pros in societies because I think us pro tour players are already very good players so are just making it too easy against other players that can't play with master clubs. We can beat them still with masters π But like you said it's about enjoyment of the game so you should play it however you like. πππππ

Horrible final round for me. Couldn't get anything to go. -5 to finish -38 for the tournament. That may drop me down a bit but that's ok. Got a big one next week and I'll gear up for that. Good luck to everyone next week!

Good luck to everyone next week! I have a big competition next week trying to avoid my fifth strike itβs all relative I suppose. Edit: just had a look Iβm only one place from a double strike so I could drop to CC-B this weekend.

Well I'm going to need a miracle in round 2 to make the cut. Typically, the most consistent tempo I've had in weeks and everything else was to sh%$! Missing the swing cone, putting awful because of which. Gutted. Looking like 3 majors and 3 missed cuts! Not good enough as of late! π

I would caution playing with Pro clubs as I feel it could give you a false impression of tempo, as it's easier. Meaning it will be more difficult to keep good tempo with Masters as you will be getting consistent good tempo with Pro clubs and create bad habits as you think your tempo is perfect with pro, but is actually within the margin of error with Masters.
With that said, I'm just guessing and have no scientific evidence regarding my above statement Bottom line is do what works for you.

I had a difficult time on this course as well. Couldn't stay on the green. Had at least 5 shots roll to within 5-10 ft of the pin, only to catch a slop and roll completely off the green. I most likely miss another cut.

There's nothing to say that you can't have a great round 2 and make that cut! I haven't had a chance to look at the course because my internet is currently out. Hopefully it comes back soon because that could pose a problem lol. However, it's the Open championship so I'm sure there's real precedent on the precision. I bet if you're not super close to the hole, you're going to end up rolling 50ft away or so. Lag putting will be key. I did see some solid scores (-9 for xxossi83xx and -8 zeroxxx422) on XB1 so that's good stuff. Don't know where I'll end up but I'm hoping for a strong showing. I think I came in T11 in the PGA Championship and didn't play so hot in the US Open. Good luck to all still to play!
