That's the small one of the pair.......the daddy of the two UK Himalayas is on St Enodoc GC in Cornwall - 6th hole - about 70ft high!
And if anyone cares to google it - a massive sleepered bunker at Royal North Devon's 4th hole - about 60 yards wide, 15-20ft deep - and fully sleepered all up the front. Shame it is actually no longer really in play (its only about 170 yards off the tee to carry it)
St Enodoc Royal North Devon There are so many links courses I need to play...

The fw bunkers on the par 5 12th at Oakland Hills were always my favorite set of bunkers...... and the bunkers fronting the green are no slouch either.
I stood on the other side of the fairway from those bunkers for about an hour at the 08 PGA. At least one player from each group, and several times two players, hit into the trees around me because they were scared of those bunkers. I can only remember Fred Couples and John Daly in that group of players, but it was probably more than a half dozen in total. Would have been more if not for a thunderstorm that came through.

Neat story, I always love hearing insider details like that! At the '16 US Am I made the mistake of walking down the left side of 12 (after watching from the cool elevated 12th tee for a bit) because I wanted to see those bunkers as up close as possible, unfortunately like you said everyone played down the right side to completely take them out of play while I was watching.
I always liked these pics of the 12th,
I believe that is the lad from Oklahoma Brad Dalke playing from the 4th bunker up the hill....
And not sure who this is/when but it shows a good example of where you don't want to be playing from lol

Wait... nobody’s mentioned Hell Bunker yet? (St. Andrews Hole 14) A couple other favorites of mine include... The Coffin Bunker (Royal Troon Hole 8) (not specifically as deep but still evil) 16th at PGA West (which I’d call completely unfair, but...) This is the 11th at my local club (Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard, OH... great PB Dye course)... the picture doesn’t illustrate the bunker well due to the angle, but I can promise you, this bunker is a good 10 feet below the green, and you do NOT want to be in it, especially if the pin is on the left:

Wait... nobody’s mentioned Hell Bunker yet? (St. Andrews Hole 14) It was a little different back in the day... Critics and design contest judges here would be having kittens if that was in a TGC course.

This one is at Lahinch. One from Chambers Bay Don't know where this is, but it looks a right bastard. And not so much hell, but certainly creative and artistic is one of a few at Macon la Salle.

There's something very unusual about this one but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Don't you mean hand Looks much more like a foot to me, I think if your hand looks like that you need to see a doctor asap!
