I'd lay odds Tim is aiming for Habs-esque levels of trolling in this thread.......and is succeeding.....

That's interesting. Based on your feedback on how this course isn't hard enough and (edit) plays "fair", it sounds like what you're for would further divide the PGA leaderboard in half... almost to a World Tour -esque setup... So I find it ironic how you felt that was a big mistake. I find it interesting that Tim advocates for a PGA like setup as far as structure, but would rather have courses like The Ratel and the like that are hard as possible eschewing RCR types that are often labelled in the forums as "too boring" or "too easy". Bob, are the PGA guys here not the "best of the best"? I don't think folks need to shoot -45 and complain about a course. -45! Silly IMO. I guess if we can't shoot around -60/week will people be happy. I am just the opposite. I am looking for more realistic scoring and even with this "silly" "unfair" course as people call it, lights out scores are still to be had.

At least on realistic courses I might have a chance with the best of the best. Here, zero chance. The elite will score low no matter the course, the rest suffer.

I could care less of my score. I prefer the harder courses where par feels like a good score. How I get to par is where I have a problem. Putting a pin where there's 3 feet of green slope around it and the rest yellow and red as a way to deter birdie just seems lame... There are other ways to make a course hard. A good hole should punish bad shots - but yet reward good shots.
The argument Fadge and I are trying to make is legit video evidence of great shots that had no business of rolling off (in my case I miss the green and have to chip from 15 yards after being <10 feet away for 5 seconds of my "roll").

The argument Fadge and I are trying to make is legit video evidence of great shots that had no business of rolling off (in my case I miss the green and have to chip from 15 yards after being <10 feet away for 5 seconds of my "roll"). For the first time in a while, we agree on something, the Par 5 4th on R1 is another class example. No option to get close to the green in two, so most people are hitting full wedges of some description into a pin position that has approximately 4-5 feet of green either side of the pin to aim for, go wider than that and you end up 25 feet away. Taking into account the 8-10 mph, even if you judge the wind correctly, any slight inaccuracy with the swing and you're down a slope. Putting back up is then equally as boring, as you can see by my 4 putt, any slight misjudgement and the ball goes 20 feet past, or comes rolling back to your feet.
I like golf courses that make it difficult to make birdies, not courses that make it easy to make bogies. Long courses with one or two mid range par 4's, and sensible greens, are much preferred to mickey mouse courses like this one.
It would be interesting to get crawesy89 's opinion on the course since he clearly dealt with it better than the rest of us. How did he manage to make as many birdies as he did? Hole lots of big putts or manage to get the ball to stick near the hole?

Maybe I’m delusional but I still feel I had a chance if I played my game to compete on those other courses. Sure I am tied for 10th after R1 but guess what? My -1 in R2 and my -23 total is nowhere close. I know I am not as good as other people but on a good day I would have a chance, just not here. Sorry. I don’t even know what we are arguing about anymore and in fact I’m not. Just gave an opinion. PS I played your ghost in R1!

Another bad week for me as I'm sitting at -8 after two rounds. On to practice PGA West. Hope I start playing better. On the bright side, I can play some of the contest courses...they look great

I feel like someone just stole my wallet after this round. My courses might beg for some coinage but they don't punch you in the stomach and empty your wallet
