Not sure I'll play this week. Not huge links fan but it's more a time thing. 3 societies is too much. I need to drop one . Probably be TST. Can't come close to being competitive so not sure why I bother. I need to drop some too, but I absolutely love this mode. I think I'm dropping TST - dudes shooting 40+ under is ridiculous. I am in the top 10 on Xbox but 61st overall after 3 rounds LOL. Insane. We already played Muir Woods in my 4LW Society and I think the winner was 18 under or something. I will look when I get home later. Just shows the huge difference between consoles.

Xb1 users are at a distinct disadvantage.

Grrrr!! One stinkin' hole has done me in!!!!
I was in last place I figure, but thats to be expected. BUT... I was only... I think 4 out of last, at least I was competing with my self proclaimed rival Arthur! Between R2 and 3 I had been slowly closing the gap on him. ( I beat you R2, Art, and I was on the way to doing it in R3 also! )
Then....THEN... Hole 14, par 5. I hit good shots and ended up beside the hole, in the sand. Thats ok, I thought, I'll just pitch it up close and make at least a par. NOPE. It was one of those two tiered greens. I pitched it up, and it rolled off the tier, 54 ft away from the hole.
When I tried to putt it up that tier, it rolled past the hole, back into the sand trap.
I proceeded to go back and forth, because I could not pitch the ball out of the sand with enough power to get it up over the top of the trap, and have it stop before it hit the downhill tier, and I couldn't putt it hard enough to get it up the tier without it rolling back, without it rolling all the way back in the sand.
Finally ended with an 11, blowing my whole score up. Talk some about bad luck!!! LOL

I can't speak for everybody, but man were the 5 footers around here tough to judge. Amen to that, stoney. Nothing automatic about short putts on these greens. R4 was a grind. I wasn't putting well at the start. I put some approach shots within very makeable birdie range and missed the putts. On longer birdie putts I made my life difficult by leaving them 5/6/7 feet short. But I was able to save par again and again. I ran off a string of 10 straight pars before I carded my first...wait for it...birdie! Then I birdied the next hole, too. w00t! But even as my putting was getting better, my approaches were getting farther away. And so the grind continued. I finished with six straight pars to end the round at -2 and a clean card. I'm proud of this round just because I fought through frustration and anxiety and kept the mean old bogeys at bay. I ended up +1 for the tournament, which put me tied for third place on PS4. If I can pull a top ten out of this after my +9 second round, I will be extremely happy! (Man, I *love* this society!)

After my opening round 67 earlier in the week I played rounds 2 & 3 last night. Those high winds destroyed me in the 2nd round, battled to a 74 to be 1 over at the cut, well played to anyone going under par in that round 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.Got my act together on moving day in the much easier conditions & fired a 10 under 60,just missed a 10 footer on 18 for the 59 🤪.So that leaves me at -9 with the final round to play this evening, trying to chase down Gavs excellent total of-14,should be fun 😬

Also loving Royal St. Georges, have always considered links golf to be purest form of the game,it is after all how the game was first played, certainly wouldn’t want to disagree with the legend that is Tom Watson.Much more interesting than playing darts 🎯 😉

Loving how the high winds wrecks scoring, very true to real life. Just wish there was a gustiness component to them to further emphasise strategy over just knowing how many “clicks” to adjust.

Hopefully the next game gets rid of the wind speed indicator and goes for graphics and sound for wind immersion . Golf games have not progressed with weather conditions one bit since the early PGA Tour games on the Sega Megadrive. Would love to see dynamic weather conditions with wind and rain, would improve the game so much.

I am a case-in-point for how the high winds make you abandon counting clicks to compensate. I didn’t have many good shots in R2’s high winds, but the ones I did were done off of feel based on elevation, club and distance to the hole. I could get in the vicinity of what I needed with click counting, but it was feel that made the difference on my good shots.

That being said great courses so far and just as important the lighting has been very good.

I have never counted clicks, even when the numbers are there. I've always just looked at the graph/speed, and just sort of estimated in my head, by feel where I think the adjustment should be.
That said, I've never felt like that was anything that hurt me, I'm usually fairly close to where I want to land, IF my tempo is right. I've never had a problem with judging high winds, its getting the tempo the same that gets me all the time. Random very fast and slows, and tempo changes knock my score down way more than high winds. So what I've noticed, is I tend to come back a bit during the high wind rounds, because they play the same to me as no wind, but I lose ground in no wind, because others play that much better.
Maybe if I started counting clicks, I could be ten strokes better. But nah, on second thought thats too much work, I"m just here to have fun.

I actually hit more to tap-in range in rd2 than rd1, including one to 2 feet in hole 1 starting well right of the green. No idea how I did it...

Much of the time I really don't "see" the number in the wind meter when it's there and just see how much the meter is full or empty. But remember this is from a sucky player as far as USE is concerned. IMHO, if I played with aids against some of these winning scores I would STILL lose. Dang these gawlers are guuuud.
