Solid in R1 and R4, not so much rounds 2 and 3. I did not enjoy one solitary second on these greens. Well designed course but not super fun for me.
At any rate, I can't really complain about -21 at the cut, -38 total, I'm thinking around top 15 or so.

I'm really not wanting to play this course. For whatever reason I can't find any type of rhythm or consistency on it. Arrrrrrgh!

Jeez this is not an easy course. First round 70% ish on GIR and FIR. I felt that I was a scrambling machine. No bogeys first round thanks to some good putting. Held up about the same in round 2, I think I'll be in the 60% for GIR there. Many par saves but gave back one. Overall even when I hit the fairway, there were many times I felt that I had no idea where to hit the ball so I aimed for center of the green many times. Swing was good but tempo, so many slow follow throughs had me finding a lot of trouble, including going through the fairway on #18 in round two. It rolled down the hill and some how stopped just before the water. My second shot cleared the water by about 3 yards and managed to stay up and I was able to save par. It was that type of day. I managed a -8 and -7 for -15 overall. My goal on this tournament was to just make the cut and save my two promotion strikes and I believe I am clear with no problem. I play the front nine pretty well but that back nine has me guessing 1/2 the time. It is what it is and I have to admit it is, for the most part, pretty fun and challenging...at least when i'm not pulling my hair out. An old classic that came over pretty well into the new game.
**EDIT** Round two 50% FIR and 66% GIR. 24 putts each round meant I was scrambling for par every other hole pretty much. I have never scrambled so much and I'm very thankful I was putting fairly well. Several 12 footers to save par.

After being at -20 thru 2 I put up a bit of a stinker -5. Felt like a matter of time; tough course to put up 4 good rounds.
Maybe I can pull another -12 out of thin air to give myself a shot at a top 10? Nothing's impossible but feels unlikely. I'll take my made cut, get my check, keep my marks, and happily move onto next week.
Huge fan of the course. Tough one, but I felt it was mostly fair. Different wind amounts and directions could TOTALLY change one's experience on this course. Definitely got a lot of practice on 15 foot double breakers this week; can't say that very often.

I juuuust scraped through the cutline with -11 after a poor first round showing of -3. Finished pretty strong tho and looks like I might be able to ride to a top20 finish with a four round total of -30. Happy enough just to keep my promotion mark. Course was a nice challenge - lots of tempting shots that get you into lots of trouble if not executed perfectly. I found most of them at some point

It's a nit pick of mine, but I often don't love fairway runoff. I felt like a number of times I had successfully threaded the proverbial needle that the designer had intended to dare me to go for only to see the ball continue to trickle just enough to get off the fairway thanks to a very unfriendly downslope at a curiously devious location. There's an opportunity or two for some mounds or at least a little less roll-off at the edge of the fairways to reward a good shot.
In fairness in those cases apparently I just hit it too hard and if I'd zoomed closely enough in my initial analysis of the landing & rollout zones perhaps I would have noticed it and adjusted, but for the normal visual review using the landing zone zoom, you end up hitting a shot exactly as planned, your heart fills with pride on your perfectly executed shot all the way until the last minute looks like it's going to pull up nicely a yard or two safely inside the fairway but instead finds an unexpected downslope and creeps into the rabbit food. Boo.

Hard luck Matt - those bogeys in R2 did indeed prove costly. I'm winning it next week, but there's always the week after that (yes, I know that means I'm going to miss the cut now)

Now don't go all crazy Ron like you did at The Old Course and knock me out of the top 10. Par is a good score on this treacherous course like you said. I suggest you adopt a conservative approach for your last two rounds.

I've been going over round three and even changed out some clubs because in this wind some of my long irons won't do the trick. Depending on how it works out I have a feeling there are going to be some drives like on 16 and 17 I'm going to be playing really conservative.
Tell you what, what is the number I need to tie you in the top 10. I'd be happy with that, tho there are two I think are going to do enough to get there without my help.

Looks like Terence and Brandon are a lock unless they forget to play. If I were you, I'd play 16 and 17 with nothing but a lob wedge...just to be safe.

Ugh. I thought I might be starting a comeback in the third round despite lipping out a 7 footer on 4, I was -8 through 13, then I hit bunkers on 4 of the last 5 holes and finished the round at -6.
And then I did the opposite in the fourth round after double bogeying the first par 5, I birdied 4 of the last 5 holes and again finished at -6.

-7 thru 13 and feeling good, then dumped two in the water on 14 with 95% swings for a 9. Birdied three of the last four to go -5 but it didn't matter. I blew it. Speed golfed through round four. Good luck next week, glad to be done with this one to be honest. It was a killer.
