I'm really pushing the object meter on my Invicta World Cup course, and I know I read this at some point but I can't find it. How far across the screen is "full" for the object meter? I need to know so I can either slow down or keep throwing down bushes and what not.

I'm not sure the answer, but I think we're about to find out together ...

Full is when it tells you "sorry there was an error when trying to publish"

I'm not there yet. I'm to the G in "To Green." The course still performs well, but I've got a couple of areas that need some serious foliage still.

No lag to speak off when I test on PS4, but we're getting right down to the nitty gritty. The major planting is done, it's just touching up the fine details. Hoping I won't have to pick and choose, but I've got very little wiggle room now.

i.imgur.com/Ep9tpTx.png This is where I got to with Marwood and had no problems at all with the publish. My understanding is it's full when the bar has gone to the end of the screen?

So I know autogenerated trees and bushes don't count toward the plant meter but surely they contribute to file size and potential lag, right? I'm starting to get a little stutters on PC, I'm terrified of what this will play like on PS4 lol.

There are three circles under that orange bar, the one on the left being empty, the one in the middle being half full, and the one near the right side of the screen being full. Once that orange bar gets past that full one, you're getting close to being screwed. Sometimes it will tell you when you're in the designer if you try to plant something that there is no more room, and other times, like Han said, you find out when you publish that it's unsuccessful.

The game has a really low-resource way to know the properties of auto-gen elements. So they don't really change the file size. However, auto-gen trees, just like any other tree, still has to be drawn on the screen, and that is what potentially causes lag.

I knew you'd be the perfect person to answer that question. So to take that one step further, let's say there's all these autogen trees that your field of vision is facing, but they're on the backside of a mountain. So you can't see them, but would they still render? Like does the game draw everything in the camera's cone of vision even if another object, like a big rock, is in front of it and blocking it from view? I feel like it probably does.

I don't know. If I remember correctly, Unity 3D is based on OpenGL which does handle clipping by not drawing objects out of view. But I don't know that for sure. You'd think it would, as it's a 20-year old concept, but Unity could be doing something different.

I found out that when I was tweaking Northwood Golf Club TGC for the Casuals Society on the official forum that my plant meter was two grandstands off being full. The game told me when I tried to plant a third one. The TGC published version runs fine.
