What I don't understand is why Boreal bunkers have that dark interior shadow, it looks really odd compared to the natural look of rustic bunkers (at least IMO). Not sure what HB was really thinking here, but that could be said for many aspects of the game unfortunately. All I know is my Pine Valley WIP was ruined in boreal, then I flipped it to Rustic (It needs the leafy trees anyway so rustic is only choice) the bunkers immediately improved visually, but there is a ton of waste area sand there compared to normal courses.
Is there a thread anywhere for this alleged Pine Valley WIP? I like seeing the RCR process from guys like you and CLV. I'm assuming you use GhostIt or something similar? Do you ever run into projection issues when tracing from the round Google Earth surface onto a flat plot in game? I've found I'm always a few yards off when I get back to where I started. Now I try to start somewhere in the center of the plot, trace an entire hole so I know it's to scale, and then triangulate the next tee box from my starting point, so anything that's stretched or compressed from the projection is only in the spaces between the holes. Is that normal for you guys or am I just a bad tracer? Lol. I tried tracing once back in TGC1 and I couldn't figure it out. I couldn't see anything clearly enough to make intricate bunkers accurately, and I saw no way to do more than one hole at a time, which meant it would be easy to get the hole spacing wrong. I can imagine that I possibly wasn't doing it right, but I essentially abandoned that idea as not being accurate enough for me, and haven't tried since.

Bumping as a reminder to myself to update this tonight with pics. I've sculpted and replanted the 2nd and 3rd holes, and added tournament details. This leaves 4-8 left to fine-tune sculpting for, and 4-18 to add tournament objects and update planting for. It's a slow steady march.
I won't create a thread, but I've also been updating and replanting Merion, which needed a full theme change and replant. 5 holes are completed and a little bit of 6. That project is moving much faster than Magnolia, so I expect that will be done some time in February after I get back from Florida. Now that I've typed that and thought about it, I guess that makes my hopeful timeline for Magnolia as sometime in March.
I guess I'm discounting a lot of January in those projections, so we'll just see how much I get done this month before I make any solid predictions on release dates.

Love the texture coloring, which I think...think is new? Seem to remember the old version having more of a yellow-ish tinge to it, those photos look more plush green - looks great, and fits with what I imagine being ANGC much better.

Glad to hear Merion East is getting an update, I always felt Merion & Oakmost were your best RCR's and those Magnolia pics are looking super! Some of the very best matchplay rounds I've ever had were on Merion, that course is just the perfect combo of risk reward for mp IMO.
Any update/progress on Crystal Downs?

As in going away? I would love for it to go away on the tee boxes but not the greens, but I don't think that's an option is it? I guess the alternative would be to just use fairway for the tees and let it blend in, but they are pretty starkly defined in real life, so neither green nor fairway is really ideal. As far as Crystal Downs, that's more or less where I left off in the WIP thread. I think since then, if I'm remembering my last update correctly, I finished laying down the 11th and a portion of the 17th. Unfortunately I'm really only getting about 30-60 minutes of design time per day, and maybe 4-5 days per week, so I'm not progressing at all on multiple projects. Really just Magnolia and Merion at the moment, and once Merion is finished I will have a tough time deciding what is next. Just based purely on progress so far, I think Boston GC (Revolution Golf Club) is the likely option.

Colour pallette is great by the way.

I looked at the tee boxes again tonight. Only 6 of the 18 Masters tees are fully enclosed within fairway, with the rest surrounded by rough. I checked the pictures I had of the 3rd, 8th, 10th, 12th, and 18th and there is clearly a noticeable cut difference between the tee box and fairway, but nowhere near as stark as the tee boxes surrounded by rough. I went ahead and switched the surface to fairway, I don't think many will notice or care about the lack of tee box definition on those holes.

It's really a shame in the year 2019 that HB can't add a "tee box" specific surface, basically the green with no fringe. The only way I'll do it is using green surface with zero fringe just because it looks so terrible off the tee with the fringe cut. I never understood the designers who employ so many different cuts around the tee area, not at all how any real courses are managed, it would take ages for the grounds keeping staff to mow all those cuts of grass lol.

Finished the 5th hole last night. 6-8 need full updating, then just tournament objects and replanting for the rest of the holes. Should go faster now that Merion is done.

In light of today's news, I will not be extending the 5th hole for this release. There is a sketch of the hole out there, but I don't think that's enough to go on. I will see it in person in April and then update it.
