Hi all
I know that the club choice from the tee is driven (excuse the pun) by the location of the midway point but I have a strange issue.
All of a sudden it is choosing a wedge and the midway point is 284 yds away?
I have deleted the hole and put it back in with no luck.
Any ideas welcome. Thanks

So after changing the tees from fairway to green it works.
Is it common knowledge Fairways don’t work as tees?
Edit - the tees are only showing as rough which is bordering the fairways... confused but anyway I will use green surface for now.

Tees should work fine with fairway brushes. Perhaps you need to use the red brush to raise the tee area and make sure the fairway brush actually fully appears?

thanks rob. Maybe that’s it. Will test it if it happens again but I’ve moved on from this tee it already waited over an hour of my time lol

It's not going over water or another hazard is it? I had this problem with a downhill drive with water in play down the right, it's a 600 yard par 5 but was giving me SW off the tee!! I moved the waypoint to the left a bit to avoid the hazard and it resolved the issue.

But then again why did it give me a wedge for a long shot? It has some water but cuts it early on. I will keep an eye on it.

Yep, waypoints must be in the FW to get the right club on the tee. Even if you would never aim in that direction, you still need to put a waypoint in the FW. Another reason to give us more waypoints.

Hey chuck, yeah the waypoint was in the fairway but it wasn’t picking up the tees were on fairway surface. Was really annoying as I just wanted to move on.

I didn't even think about the tee waypoint which is new to 2019. I've never moved it so it's never been an issue. Interesting

Anyway I will see how we go on the next long hole. On a side note is there a way to make the play through default to the longest tee or is the answer to only place 1 tee until the end and make it the back one?

@roytgc I think the second one.

I always use fairway as the tee surface yet I've yet to encounter this problem on my courses.

I'd also ask if you are using Master clubs for playtesting - it certainly used to be the case in TGC2, that if the landing point for the driver wasn't on the fairway (on line towards the waypoint) then it defaulted to the 45 yard pitch. Roy mentioned the waypoint was at 284 (which is master distance) - so if using pro / beginner clubs, then that may be the issue.

I've been running into this issue also. Even if I made sure the waypoint was >285 from the front-most tee it's still suggesting a 2 iron off the tee (on a 500 yard par 4 with a generous fairway!).
