What I mean by "comfortable" is if you took ten swings, would you know pretty much how your swing will turn out seven or eight times out of ten?
The game has been driving me crazy since I first got it as I can't get comfortable with the swing at all. Last game it took me about a month but I got my swing locked in and knew pretty much how my swing would turn out every time I took a swing. Not so in this game as I can't seem to find a way to consistently hit a draw or a fade, every time I swing I have no idea if it's going to be a draw or a fade and it seems there is no rhyme or reason for this. I mean this independent of tempo, I just mean the end result of your swing lines going left or right.
Tempo is another issue that is causing me problems as the tempo has changed from TGC 2 and it keeps catching me out as I sometimes get a slow back swing that I have no idea what caused it as I am sure my transfer was identical to other swings that had no problem.
All this is causing me to change swing technique tournament to tournament to try and find something that works. All this is in fact doing is causing me to miss cut after cut and really frustrating me with the game.
So if you are comfortable with your swing, how did you achieve it? Lot's of repetition or a lot of tinkering? Would be interested to see how other players came about their swing and achieve consistency from it.
Your description of your 2019 experience is identical to my TGC2 experience with the swing. My conclusion is that everybody’s system and swing are all different and overthinking does more harm than good. In order to get a groove, I focus on the backswing and allow the backswing’s tempo to align with the downswing tempo. Rhythm is the goal. If you register a slower-than-normal backswing, the you’ll need a slower-than-average downswing to get P/P. Also, things clicked when I insisted on hard-wiring. It made a difference, and with decimal points in the twenties, it’s worth it.

Mine works 75% of the time but the other 25% can get very very ugly.
Need to learn to stop when I feel it getting away from me tbh

Overall quite comfortable. My swings aren’t perfect every time but generally i can feel when I’m off on tempo or line, and I can adjust.
One notable exception is pitching. I feel anything but comfortable that I’m going to P/P any sort of pitch shot. I’ve been on a hot streak with pitching recently but definitely feel like the bottom could drop out again at any moment. Not too long ago I was laying up to avoid pitch shots but made a conscious decision to get good at them. In these high wind events it’s got to be valuable to be closer to the pin and reduce the time your ball is exposed to the wind on approach.
The other area I struggle in is full shots with SW/LW. Anyone else notice this? I just find I’m particularly prone to upswing VS with those clubs on full shots. I get quite nervous hitting a wedge to a pin right over water.

Beginner - Sky PRO - Purgatory MASTER - Hell Time in the master destroys me. Mostly pitch and flop. But I do not understand one thing: I practice the swing several times before the stroke. All OK PP. When I leave the practice and go to the shooting, I isolate the ball !!!! It's not possible !!! Forgot everything you did seconds ago Hell!!!

I feel that this game goes in cycles. I can have an excellent couple of weeks, then I lose my swing for a while before it comes back. But to answer your question, I’m pretty comfortable with my swing. If it was PP every time I think this game would get old really fast.

Sad part is a P/P doesn't always mean straight! grantcrichter, that's what makes it fun in a strange sort of way. It's the frustration that keeps us playing round after round thinking "next time I'll be better"... and the more rounds we play with the frustration we'll be rewarded a little more each time when we do get it right! And hopefully, eventually, we will get good!

I agree that the game goes in cycles, but mine seems to in days rather weeks. Sometimes it is in hours. Am i comfortable with my swing. Not really, I have a hook to the left, its trying to work out how far to the right to counteract this, then throw in a fast or slow down swing and a 95% power shot, sometimes both at the same time it's a wonder that I get under par. As for the chip shot, well that goes wherever it bloody wants to. Pitches and flops at least go somewhere near I want them to most of the time.

I had an idea to use a metronome app on my phone or ipad. Ironically, 69 beats per minute is the tempo that helps me stay consistent. I went from many Very Fast, Very Slow issues to minimal ones on master clubs. This is on xbox so it is an improvement from what I had before. The metronome beats simply keep my consistency in pace of swing. I have it at a minimum volume as too loud tends to annoy me. It was a quick thought that happened to improve my swing.

it works for all normal shots and pitches. Chips and flops need a different pace, but if you locked in on normal shots, those get better too.

I would not be floating around the cc-z tour if I was comfortable with my swing! Find I can get into a groove which feels awesome but if I take a break for even 10 minutes - could loose it (frustrating but then again so is the game itself) Still better than going to the Beginner tour for me since it gives me something to focus on other than trying to see my name trying to keep up with the "leaderboard junkies" that are sure to flood that new tier.

I need another option on this poll... "No. Unless I play on PS4."
On PC my swing felt no better than chance, with both v.slows & v.fasts cropping up often.
Carded a -12 in my 2nd Euro round after switching from PC to PS4 this week.. swing was around 80% consistent. And even the few pushes & pulls were not nearly as damaging as those "very"'s on the PC. Chalk and cheese!

Tempo isn't normally a problem for me but the swing plane is usually all over the place. Occasionally I get a round or 9 holes where I'm fairly consistent with hitting slightly left, which I can cope with, but then something changes and it's all over the place again. Tried all sorts of different ways of holding the control pad and positioning myself in my chair but nothing seems to work for more than a couple of shots. My swings vary hugely - if I don't move the stick quickly and risk a fast downswing then I often end up with a bizarre inverted '3' shape which seems completely impossible, or a swing which is straight all the way until the very top when it goes left at a 90 degree angle across the top of the meter. It's actually quite frustrating that no matter how much I play this game the swing aspect isn't any better than it was when I first started and the only improvement has come in judging the wind, slopes etc. Generally my rounds are usually determined by how good my putting eye is - the rest is a lottery.
