Scored a first round 67(-5) with the Pro clubs, chickened out of the Master clubs after driving into the water way too many times in practice.
Even with Pro clubs I still managed to hit the water on the 15th, and that combined with four-putting from eagle position on the par 5 8th set me back a bit. Could have easily been looking at a -10 here.
Ah well, plenty of time for this old F'er to eff things up even more in the coming days.

-19 after 3 too many missed putts hoping it keeps me far enough up the board to avoid any demotion marks.

played my 1st round with master clubs, all over the place +5 switched to pro clubs for my next 3 rounds got it back to -18. I was nervous and panicking there for a while, Love TGC tours was a member last season but never played, did not know how LOL, sussed everything out this year with my gamer tag and the correct platform etc. found the forums that I did not know existed I read them everyday now, and I can't believe all the TV and twitch broadcasts they are fantastic, the game just seems so much better now lots more to play for, THX TGC TOURS and all those who organise this great setup.

Week 1: R1 -9 R2 -7 R3 E R4 -6 Total -22. The greens at Wisdom Bay were a little easier to read this week. That and left myself in the right spots to make some putts. Round 3 didn’t adjust to the wind soon enough. I think I hit three balls into the water due to slight pulls and pushes in my swing. Had a chance to make a late run in the final holes but couldn’t find the fairways like I did the first two rounds. Round 4 burned the edges on some birdies but on some holes the wind and swing put me in tough spots and left tricky putts for par. Overall best four rounds I’ve put together on TGCT so far.

Thanks for the heads-up on the winds, Will. I will get in some windy practice before I hit the course for rounds 3 and 4.

Thanks for the heads-up on the winds, Will. I will get in some windy practice before I hit the course for rounds 3 and 4. Wind speeds for the round are posted here. A blank entry means the setting has been used previously so the winds are no ore than medium for the last two rounds, only the direction changes.

Second round 67(-5) for me again, this time struggling to land close enough to score well, far too many long putts for birdie. Miraculous approach for a tap-in eagle on the 18th brightened thing up.
100% FiR, 76% GiR and no bogies.
-10 after two.

Good luck to both of us in R3 and R4! Guys, Good luck to both of you. I finished R3 and R4 with -7 and -10 respectively. Don't ask me how but the wind helped me shoot better than R1 and R2. I finished at -27 so that will give you something to shoot for, lol. I just finished a practice round on Steamshovel with Master clubs and finished -7. Quite nerve racking not knowing where the shots are going to end up. I do get to see a lot more of the course with Master clubs so I might just stick with them., lol. The course seems to be fairly easy and I used the weather conditions for R1 as they stated. I think you guys will tear the course up! Btw I don't use any spreadsheets and I usually calculate elevation and wind in my head using rules of thumb I read about on tgctours. I am having a lot of fun playing in CC-F and this game is really addictive.

Going to practice Steamshovel with Master clubs, but strictly control the usage of the Driver - maybe not even use it at all. Some of my Pro club approach shots at Wisdom Bay have been appalling as the ball can't stop on the greens quick enough, so the extra spin control of the Master club irons could help there, and the 3W can go just as far as a Pro driver (just about) anyway. The trouble is, it's so tempting to just hammer the ball as far as possible.

It would be a great course for someone wanting to try Master clubs in a tournament. Of course I'm sure the pressure will go up when I'm playing a tournament round. That is a good point using the 2W or 3W instead of a driver. I meant to see if the swing plane bar is thicker on the 3W than the driver. That would definitely help with accuracy. But like you said it is too tempting to hammer the driver!

A laughable even par round in round one. I honestly thought I was going to be at least 7ish under but I don't play for a week and the swing just goes away.
We'll see if I can get it back together for the next 3 rounds.

But like you said it is too tempting to hammer the driver! The cone isn't any wider I don't think, but the multiplier for missing the cone are not as strong, so mistakes aren't so harshly punished - your shot doesn't go off target as much as a driver would. However, you're still using the Master multipliers for tempo, so it's harder to hit P/P every time. And those multipliers all, er, add up. Tried a 2W Master clubs set up for practice at Wisdom Bay, didn't go well at all, something like -2 for the round. Switched to Pro with a 3W for my tournament R3 and scored a -12. The difference was that much. Maybe Steamshovel is a better course for the 2W set up. We'll see. Anyway, finished off my Wisdom Bay rounds with a very good -12 (every putt seemed to drop, properly in the 'zone' there) followed by a R4 -4 to take me to -26 for the tournament. Pretty happy with that. Road to Rio Open Wisdom Bay Golf Club R1: 67(-5) R2: 67(-5) R3: 60(-12) R4: 68 (-4) Total: -26

I checked the swing meter last night. When I hold in LT on my XB1 controller, like I am going to loft a club, then I cycle through the clubs, I noticed that as I go down in clubs the blue bar (cone?) in the middle of the swing meter gets wider. I never noticed this before but it makes sense. The woods then the irons got wider, not by much but they were wider. You are right about the Master club multipliers. It is very hard to get P/P. Then when I think I have the tempo down I get a slow or very fast. Always seems to happen on holes with water lol.
