Round 1 of Horseshoe Bay in the books. Course is a visual treat and plays relaxed. Play wise today, had my approach shots been as good as my putting I'd have shot 18 under. Conversely had my putting been as bad as my apps I'd have shot 10 over. If it weren't for slow downswings I'd probably still be on the course trying to make my 1st swing of the day. Finished bogey free 10 under. Will be swallowed by the pack with that score though. Bummer of the day is 3 putting 16th after backing my putter and going for the green off the tee (slow downswing), highlight of the day was dropping a 29 foot putt to save par on 17th (very slow downswing app) Good luck everyone, enjoy! Crazy Croc i love how you downplay every round each week and then you finish right near the top with Master clubs. not sure if your standards are that high or you are trying to psych everyone else out before they play thinking if they don't shoot -15 it won't be good haha. that's my long way of saying great playing, hope you get those last 2 promo marks these next two events! i hit it pretty good, made one mistake on the 11th. missed at least one close one and finished at -8 which should've been double digits but a decent chance to go low the next 3 and get a promo mark that will soon be cleared Haha, Travis, maybe I am just trying to psych everyone out! Thanks mate!

Just wanted to stop in and say thank you to the Challenge Circuit schedulers and players for their efforts in going around Horseshoe Bay! I spent a lot of time working on this course, and I am very proud that it ended up being chosen for this event. Please feel free to leave any feedback on either side of the fence. As a designer, I am always trying to improve and all feedback helps. Best of luck to all, and enjoy your rounds on Horseshoe Bay! I love the course: it is pretty and plays smoothly. Even though my score this week is, once again, horrible, I really enjoyed playing all four rounds on your course. Maybe just one small thing I did not like: the first reachable par 4's green is positioned in such a way that even if you manage to have a perfect swing, it is impossible to stop the ball on the green with greens that are not slow. I feel that's a shame; I would like there to be a way to stop it on the green if you hit the perfect shot. Then again, that might just be me and I probably should just learn to accept that I should not go for each and every reachable par 4 or I am too stupid to see how it could be stopped on the green. Come to think of it, probably the latter, so forget my comment; I love the course. Best wishes, Frans

Seems like I psyched myself out. Moored my horse next to an apple stall and planned to float around the course for the last 3 rounds. Opened the front 9 with a disappointing 6 under. At the time I felt it should have been a shot or two better. Approaches were good, putter just got luke warm at best. Should have taken a screen shot and called it a day. Back 9, tempo started to abandon me and the putter could not save the day. Ended up birdying the 2 par 5's and nothing else. Scored -8 Next round, think I probably got a glimpse of how the x-boxers swing on a good day. Terrible. Fought to keep the card and tourney bogey free, lasted the whole front 9, back 9 the shoes came off. Opened with back to back bogeys, added another somewhere before the club house. Five birdies in the same stretch made for a colourful score card. Scored -6 Called it a day. Sitting on -24 after 3, at this rate i'll be donating a greenie to the tournament director. To top it off it seems like my horse helped himself to an extended lunch. Thankfully the stall owner popped down to the club house to enquire about the owner when I came to fetch him. Think i'll come with my dingy for the last round! Told myself i'll always post a video of something with every post, but highlights have been really scarce of late. So I hit the 18th in 2, knowing no replay will be possible when I drop the eagle putt, this time I was prepared. Hit he record button during live play.... To think a brain like that will rot one day... stoneysooner - loved your course. I don't design and would not be able to tell a spline from a sculpt apart but two things I look for in a course. If it plays nice, yay, if it looks nice too, then double bonus. Horseshoe Bay is a double bonus one.

Hole #3 was designed to make you want to hit driver off the tee, but unfortunately that is only a good play with Pro Clubs or when the wind is coming into you at about 8 mph. I know it is hard to do, but the best play is actually an iron off the tee that leaves a full wedge. I had to tone the green down a bit after some yellow crept into the 9 boxes, but it is still a really tough and small green for a short par 4. You can always put it in the front bunker for a decent shot at birdie as well.

As the person that put hours into smoothing, flattening, raising, lowering, and tediously adding those pink flowers it is nice to hear!

And so the hunt for the 5th promotion mark begins...
A bogey free -10 round 1. Meh. Drove it perfectly, but my approach play definitely wasn't as good as it should've been. Left myself too many 15 foot putts for birdie, and I didn't make many.
Round 2 I shot -12. That's more like it. Was surprised I shot better with the high winds. Bogey free again. Hope I don't jinx it...
-14, putter caught fire this round. 29 out, 29 in. Missed a simple eagle putt on the last and I have no idea how, game said it was breaking left yet it broke right. Can't complain with a 58 though.
Final round: -11. Wasn't looking great until I birdied 6 of the last 7 for a 61. Overall that puts me at a bogey-free -47 for the tournament. Happy with that and should comfortably see me through to Web.com just before the end of the season.
Loved the course - played great and looked just as good. Good luck this week guys!

Thoroughly enjoyable course stoneysooner well done!! - tad long for Pro clubs but that's down to player choice. 7 under & 10 under for first two rounds.... not too bad normally but will be touch & go again in the demotion strike stakes. Will check the state of play later in the week before finishing off.

Rowing across the bay via my patched dingy I arrived a few days later worried about possible sanctions for my horse been a greedy steed - not like the apples at home is all THAT rotten. Had a speech prepared about willing to sacrifice a greenie or 2 (seasons over, hehe, no loss) My fears were all for nothing as it seems like hard-of-hearing-and-not-much-better-at-seeing caddy master Jack had swore high and low he saw fransslabak riding the same horse across the 14th green a couple of days ago. Ducked low and sneaked past the protestations and hit the course. My problems taken care of I played without a care in the world. Came to the 5th, caddy gave me an 8 iron for my 2nd.... Heard my caddy mumbling something along the lines of karma and someone's dog. Then came the 14th, noticed they moved the pin all the way to left due to damage done on the other side, caddy gave me the 8 iron again... Told the caddy I also have a dog called Karma Closed out at -12

Poor final 2 rounds..... could only muster 5 & 3 under par for an event total of -25. CC-A status hanging by a thread heading into the final week of the season............... Wk 42: Duff Beer Championship @ Kraken’s Revenge

Duff Beer, hmmmm. I suggested the name when they were looking for tournament names to be used at the end of season 1, hopefully a sign of good times just around the corner

Duff beer for me, Duff beer for you, I'll have a Duff, you'll have one too.
Nice course this week, but I couldn't do anything right in rounds 2 and 3. Looks like I'll be in CCA once again next season.

Okay, final week of the season and I have only one mission: hang on to CC-A status! First round: bogey-free -9 Obviously, our resident crocodile would say that is close to a demotion mark and maybe it is, but I am pretty pleased with a bogey-free round on firm fast greens; missed some putts I should have made and made some that I usually miss but at least I did not three-putt! Best wishes and good luck to all trying to get promotion or avoid demotion in this final tournament, Frans

Just coming out of winter on my side of the pond a croc was woken from his blissful slumber by a huge splash as some kraken thingy decided to take up residence in the pool. Disapprovingly glared at this overweight octopus ordering Duff's by the eights. That is just not on mate, someone's gotta go. Hit the course early, wowzer, had some really good tempo in general, so much so that I took advantage and finished all 4 rounds back to back. Round 1, opened with 7 birds on the trot, petered off a bit when I could only par the reachable par 5 8th and a final push to close out with -13, recovered a few beers Round 2, picked up my only very slow swing of the entire tourney on the 4th, ball splashed in the water, double, ouch. Kraken was huffin and puffin and threatening to ink up the entire pool. Came the 13th and a fast downswing had me in trouble and momentum was clearly with kraken. Back against the wall, the crocster came out fighting Fast finish to close -10 Round 3 - kraken did not want to give up the fight, sprayed my putter with gooey ink, held on manfully for another -10 Round 4 - as I stepped out onto the 1st tee I asked Ms Pond '17, '18 and '19 what she wanted to eat with her Duff tonight. Calamari she purred Opened with another 7 birds on the trot, came the par 5 8th, facing the same hole that Kraken used to bring my birdie trot to a screeching halt in round 1, this time round I countered with an eagle. And just to rub it in the kraken was well and truly sliced, diced and battered into neat rings by the 12th... Finished up with something ridiculous like -16 (55). 49 under for the weekend. Supper time! ………………………………... Very nice course this week again! Good luck everyone, hopefully will be seeing all again next season. PS... fransslabak - you'll be safe provided that -9 is your worst round of the week! Nah, good luck mate, rooting for ya
