Decided to power through Zilker today ahead of the holiday week. +4 (really shook me and almost rage quit after a triple bogey on 9) -1 (less mistakes, but still too many missed putts) -5 (a few missed putts from a real gem of a round) -7 (put together an almost mistake free round, including an albatross on 2; left a couple strokes out there, but super happy with this recovery) Into the clubhouse at -9. Sad thing is I finally figured out Zilker in R3, just wish I couldve gotten a redo on R1-2. Hoping I'm safe from demotion marks. Last week, -7's were projected in demotion mark terrority, so hoping that the tougher course will give me even more breathing room. Way to turn it around Evan. I've nearly thrown my controller a few times lol. Looking like I'll have to wait until after Turkey Day to complete my rounds. I'll check back and let you guys know how it goes. GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK!
Thanks very much! I'd be too drunk on turkey if I'd waited. Good luck - and see you in the clubhouse!

+9 PR1 at Zilker, I set the course up based on the weather report(which I really like) solid 13+mph thru out the round. R1 tomorrow as I punch another hole in my ticket back to my home Planet "Z"

Zilker is deceptive. Like you EvanRG I put up a +3 on the R1 and thought what in the world?? But sort of started figuring it out about 3/4 way through it, that I have to think differently on this one.

But sort of started figuring it out about 3/4 way through it, that I have to think differently on this one. I agree with Zilker being deceptive and with the wind in Rd 1 it made landing on some of the smaller greens quite tricky, I had 16 pars a bogey and an eagle to finish Rd1 at -1, I'm not the worlds best putter so if I cant fire it in close to the pin birdies are hard to come by but never mind the scoring I'm just happy to be a part of this great community

I fared a bit better in round 2 and shot a 58, my best score so far, 14 birdies 2 pars and as usual I threw in a couple of bogeys for good measure, I think the wind is back for round 3 so normal scoring at least from me, will be back to normal.

Haven't played yet but I feel like I'm gonna take a beating at this course for calling it out earlier.

Wish I could have done a flyover of Zilker, weather report said winds out of the east so I guess 95% of the course is north/south, never seen so many x-winds only a headwind once. +3 R1. Putting a little better. R2 tomorrow.

So Zilker Park is in the books. Finished -2 +2 E -4 for a total of -4. The course looked like it should have played much easier but the small greens apparently got the better of me. I have to say, however, that I absolutely hated this course. I understand what some are saying about playing to the correct spots and I totally agree. But the course itself pretty much bored me to death. Personally, in TGCT and in real life as well, I much prefer tighter courses, well treed, better hazards, and so on. I guess I'm just spoiled. In TGC2 and also TGC1, I was in CC-B and A for the most part with an occasional exemption into Web. Got to move up and get back to the CC-Pro courses.

Zilker bites back. After posting a 58 in round 2 it was back to reality in round 3 with a +1, 71. With just 1 birdie and 5 bogies across the first 12 holes the final 6 holes gave me 3 pars and 3 birdies. I think my failure to make any birdies in round 1 is going to cost me overall in the hunt for a place in the promotion event. Just need to avoid getting a red mark and be active to get into the promotion event, at least that's how I read it. link

Well can't blame the wind in round 2, birdied the first two and downhill after that, bad approaches and lousy putting again. +7 after 2. R3 tomorrow.

I have a lot more respect for Zilker Park now after playing my four rounds, 69, 58, 71, 67 for -15 in total, it looks like the sort of course that you can just rip it towards the flag on every tee and you'll be ok. WRONG, you really have to study where your ball will land and pick the right spot that gives you the best approach to the tiny greens, sure when there is not much if any wind you can make hay (birdies/eagles) while the sun shines but if the wind gets up then getting the ball in the right spot on the tiny greens becomes a lot harder. Did I mention the greens are tiny ? I hope 15 under is enough to avoid a demotion mark this week.

Shot +11 on two holes because I hit greenside bunkers and couldn't put it back on the tiny greens. Just an awful course.

R3 1st hole, shot a 10, same reason, just a bit short ended in the bunker flops, chips awful. Gave up after the 12th hole. Start practice for Tom Morris. Some courses match you well some don't. For me, this one doesn't.

Was disappointed with a mediocre final round but managed to be 9th! The course was tougher than originally thought. Good play everyone
