so what clubs are you guys going to be using now?
I want to keep playing with master clubs, the game is pretty difficult with those.
in the first tournament, there were 5 players using beginners clubs that got promotion marks, 11 pro clubs, and 8 masters.
not too bad really. after those players, there were no more beginners clubs for quite a few places.

I will stay with pro clubs for use during my CC events, but I have been using masters more often in my society events. My aim is to switch over to masters at some point

I've used beginners once (this week), never again it's so unbelievably easy, it was like dial-a-shot golf used to be in TGC1 - back to Pro/Masters I go.

I do the sim tour. I find it really enjoyable. Reading putts takes a little bit of practice, but it's really exciting when you sink a putt.

I tried the sim tour a bit this afternoon. @!$# that's hard. No zooming so you don't get an idea where your shot goes. Hard for lining up. And putting. Whoa. I'll have a 10 foot putt but can't read any break. It looks straight. Then it's not even close cuz it moves so much lol.

stupid question, but when looking at the leaderboard on the tgc main site, some people have green up arrows or red down arrows next to their name. what do those mean? are they promotion/demotion marks?

You have to use the overhead map to help you figure out where to aim. Ideally there are landmarks (like bunkers) that you can use to inform you decision. Putting is hard, but it gets better with practice.
TST is challenging, but pars are satisfying, birdies are exhilarating, and when you nail an approach with a draw from over 200 yards to set up an 8 ft. putt for eagle you're on top of the world.

So I noticed this morning that there are promotion marks for players outside of the top players for the tourney. Is this part of that.... 3. Fast Track CC-Am promotions based on a standard deviation formula compared to avg-score of the field during promotion finalization.

Are you referring to players outside of the top-20 with projected promotion marks? Those players already have demotion marks from their performance last week. If you have demotion marks and finish in 100th or better, you get a promotion mark (thus cancelling out one of your demotion marks).
I think the fast-track promotions that were mentioned in the announcements are done manually after finalization and not displayed in the projection column on the leaderboard.

OH, that makes perfect sense. Thanks!

13 of the top 25 or so on beginner. Glad that won’t be an issue anymore
