Hey fellas just wanted to pop in for a second and let you know there’s an opportunity to join Heaven and Hell if you’re interested. I run the Heaven and Hell society and I’ve got a few opening coming up for the rest of the season. It’s 2 rounds a week is all and it’s great fun. If you’re interest at all I could definitely use a few players. Sign up here if you’re interested tgctours.proboards.com/thread/17214/heaven-tournament-season-3

I don't know what the fastracking formula is, but it seems like a joke to me. It's something along the lines of: anyone who finishes more than one standard deviation better than the median score is fast-tracked.This system is in place only in CC-Am as a way to clear out lower tours. This system works towards less overlap in skill between adjacent flights which leads to fairer competition.
Not real real sure what that means, the part I colored red. LOL. All I know is that the only times I've been able to earn a green promo mark, I've gotten fastracked instead.
Maybe the couple times that I've done good, I've done REALLY GOOD, so much so that the computer thinks I'm way above what I should be? If I understand right? If so, perhaps thats something that the programmer might want to know, maybe widen the field that it takes into consideration?
I dunno, you guys got this under control, I'm sure!

And yeah, dreagleg this weeks course is a bear- Its one of those when you hit a bad shot, you really get into trouble. Whats got me is not a bad overall game, but just a few holes where I hit bad and then it took more than a few shots to get out of it. On my R1 I was doing fairly well, I thought, and hit a shot into the grandstand. (I'm sure I took someone out! haha) But by the time that was over, with declaring unplayable, and whatnot, I went from -1 to +4 on one hole!
R2 I managed to hold it together a bit better, but one hole basically assured me of an over par finish.

Not real real sure what that means Standard deviation is a mathematical term used in statistics. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_deviation"One standard deviation better" basically means "way better than average".

After my worst tournament last week in G I'm back in Z. Finished -3 with a triple bogey on 18 in round 2. Damn OB right behind the green. Very pleased with my performance though, just couldn't sink enough putts.

I know perhaps you're just trying to simplify the concept of standard deviation, however if scores in a given flight are normally distributed (bell curve shape) approximately 16% or 1 in 6 people will be at least 1 standard deviation above the median.

The fast-track is some function of standard deviation, but the staff hasn't released the full calculation. It might be 1.5 SD. It might be 1 SD - 5 strokes. The details, I don't know.

Posted my second round last night. R1 +3 R2 +3 Just found that if you go off any of the fairways its a bit more difficult to recover. At least so far i am consistently bad.

it would just be interesting to see what that fastrack calculation is. I love and support the idea of it, I just think its (only slightly!) too aggressive. I'm not the only one that its done this to, I've read others having the same thing happen to them.
Like if it is one standard deviation above the median score for a tournament, then perhaps it should be 1 SD above median for 2 or 3 tournaments, or if its 1 SD per 5 strokes, then 1 per 15 strokes or something.
I've played in 36 tournaments so far this year, and only 4 of those have I finished more than 6 strokes above the field average. 2 of those four, when I finished 15 strokes above, it fastracked me. When I get to G though, I immediately get red demo marks, I can't even get above 100th. But I do feel like I'm playing better. It might be that G is the new Z, and thats the problem.
I'm just waiting for the new season to roll around and see what the different rules and fields look like. I've heard rumors that it will change, so I'm willing to wait and reserve any big judgements until we see how that shakes out. for now, I just play my game and have fun!

Quite a positive first two rounds this week to start, anything had to better than the shower of shite that was last week haha.
-5 E
For my first two rounds. Second could of been a lot better but two holes ruined me from being under again. Thank god it was a bit easier this week.
Any one else played some rounds yet?

Off topic a bit here. How do you check the course conditions (wind speed, green firmness etc) between rounds?

My best four rounds to date this week.
E -6 -3 -4
- 13 overall and I'm racking my brains but for once I think there may be nothing for me to complain about. 😅

I did feel a lot more comfortable on this course, felt like i could probably go a few shots better than i did. Compared to last week it is a walk in the park, it will be nice to be under par again lol.

Last week was brutal. I managed one round under par, but finished +11 and still made the top 50.
The winning score was - 11 which is about 20 shots off what we'd normally see.
Was last week an under the radar major for us by the way?

Was last week an under the radar major for us by the way? We played an RCR of the course that hosted The Open, and we set up the event with windy conditions in the spirit of The Open. Other than that, week 37 was a regular week in CC.
