I've been reading everything about golf course design and architecture and don't see much mention of the legendary Mike Stranz. This guy was a true artist and creative genius. I've been google earthing the crap out of places like Bulls Bay, Caledonia, True Blue, and Tobacco Road (which I had the immense pleasure of playing this past March). They're all such bold, interesting, and stylistic designs and he deserves more recognition in my opinion. I'm working on a project now that's mostly inspired by Bulls Bay from an overall look, feel, and design. My goal on this one is to capture the vibe of a Mike Strantz's design philosophy and hopefully, in my own small way, get people to do a little digging into this brilliant designer. Still a decent way to go on this but I'm liking the look so far and more importantly, having a great time getting more creative and bold with the design ideas and style.

I've long thought Strantz's design philosophies would translate well to virtual golf since it seems like he wasn't afraid to take timeless design principles of the Golden Age and amplify them to dramatic effect. Look forward to seeing this progress.

Two more pictures here. All 18 holes are designed and laid in now and I'm working on the infamous Strantz contouring! (It's so much fun though!) Also going round and round on the amount of trees I want on the property.
