Hello all!
I am looking to head up a True Sim type of club. Name is in the title (Carl Spackler's Sim Club) and will be on PS4 for TGC2019.
A possible season format and weekly schedule is still to be determined, but I think one four round event per week will be the way forward at least. Feedback welcome.
100 coins to join the club, and 100 coins to play the events, of which 90% goes to the prize pool. This Society is mostly for fun and TST type of practice/play, but just a little bit of cheese to play for doesn't hurt, right?
Settings for the Society are as follows with the exception that the Putting Marker option may be switched around event to event (feedback welcome):
-Green Grid: Off -Lie Grid: Off -Shot Suggestion: Off -Scout Camera: Off -Approach & Putting Cameras: On -Measurement Mode: Precise -Putting Marker: Varies (Test Event will be Marker Only) -Show Wind Speed: Off -Shot Preview: Off
As mentioned above, the Test Event will be up for three days (ending on Sept 1st) and this will be two rounds long to test the waters, etc. and to get myself acclimated to running a Society.
Hope you enjoy this TST/Sim type of club and see you on the links!

I’m in as soon as I play a few rounds! Downloaded last night, but haven’t fired it up yet. 🙂

Had a crack struggled with my tempo on pitches in round 1 which is not good around here! Fist time playing marker only as well which took me some time to get used to

I'm in! Sounds like fun, Bob. Hope a few four- and five-putts won't DQ me. The pace vs. green speed relationship in 2019 is still a WIP for me.

Played both rds finished -3, Bob i tip my hat VWP Sir. I enjoyed it because it was different, but i didn't enjoy having 2 change from Driver every shot. I'm not great on the greens anyway, but Marker only will be a definate NO from me going forward. Play well all.

Thanks Bob for setting this up, hoping this will be good practice for TST rounds. Joined and played both rounds in the test event. Very ugly; I'm finding while its easier to hit the cone (ok the rectangle) the tempo is much different to 2 for me, in 2 usually P/P or occasionally S/P but in 2019 mostly P/S seems like I have to transition to downswing much faster and push through harder (will have to keep practicing and getting used to it). Like SMIFFYLFC79 I found the Marker only putting very tough; particularly on some of the greens where I was left with a long putt (my crap approaches, a S downswing on them puts you a long way from the pin) up a big slope, had a couple of putts 50ft up 2ft and no idea without details on the marker; had a few three putts, don't remember any 4 putts. By the way, great first round @swaeromotion Also with 2019 finding it much more difficult to aim TST style without the aiming reticule in the centre of the screen; fine with getting a line off the overhead but having difficulty then implementing it on the course. Anyone got another option ? Also had an issue when I finished the first round, the round summary screen only gave me the option to continue not go back to society home (got this option at end of 2nd rd though). Didn't want to just Quit in case it stuffed up the event for me. Clicked continue and onto round 2 but ghosts didn't continue (assume they hadn't played rd 2 yet) and couldn't load other ghosts through manage party. Ideally would like to finish the round and go back to society home and start next rd from there when I want including adding ghosts. Hopefully this is just me missing something that is different from 2 and not how it works in 2019. I'd be grateful for any answers anyone has found.

Also with 2019 finding it much more difficult to aim TST style without the aiming reticule in the centre of the screen; fine with getting a line off the overhead but having difficulty then implementing it on the course. Anyone got another option ? Click the L3 joystick to cycle through the camera views, then use the wind meter (sans digital readout) as an aiming reticule. Works a treat!

New event up and will start in a few hours and will be up for 7 days. Timed to be the same schedule as the regular tours' week. Start and end in the A.M. hours (USA and Europe) on Sundays. Will most likely keep to this schedule in this society. I may start a season in October. Depends on interest, etc. Not sure the details just yet. But as for this week, I have set four rounds at rod81simo's PGA National (Championship) course. The differences this week are that we will have suggested club and the putting marker will be On and show info. The latter I will likely fluctuate around week to week. Anyways, I set each day to that pin number. Day 1 is pin #1, day 2 is pin #2 etc. I also set weather conditions for each day. Nothing too dramatic. Good luck this week!

I think this new game is perfectly suited to no/limited aids. The only ridiculous thing is being limited to four societies. I don’t see the logic in that whatsoever.

-2 and -3 (eagle on the last) to open up at PGA National. Those winds got me a bit, but MAN! I pull putts like crazy. Have to work on that.

Played 1st round (very poorly) early in the week then went back to 2 to finish off PGA/TST. Thanks jeffbdvs for the aiming tip with the wind marker. Played rd's 2 & 3 today (a little better but not much); being a warm up event I loaded a couple of ghosts to see if I could get any tips etc (had Bob and Smytty). Very weird that both ghosts in rd 2 were playing a different course set-up; both conditions and pins ( I had rain, 119 greens and Pin 2 in rd 2). In rd 3 Bob's ghost was playing the same course as me (although much better ) but Smytty's ghost was playing another set up (I had light winds, 144 greens and Pin 3 in rd 3). I am exiting back to society Home page at the end of each rd and then starting each rd fresh after hearing the issues in the other thread. Don't know if what I was seeing above is due to this with the ghosts or if the game is loading ghosts from other rounds in the event. Also I don't know if its just me not knowing (or looking properly) but in this TST mode with no green grids I can't worm cam the green. I can go to the view from behind the ball and down to ground level but not move it forward to the pin to see slopes etc; also the same from the behind pin view. As I am very often a long way from the pin this is not ideal, with marker on you can do the sweep to see distance / elevation but I prefer worm cam. Can anyone confirm this is correct or if I just missed how to do it. Thanks. One consolation is that I have now finished my TGC 2 events (can't make top 30 in PGA or TST) so can concentrate on 2019.

-1 in Round One. First time I've been under par on this course no aids in TGC2 or TGC 2019. ( Hooray!) And I left at least 3 strokes out on the course by missing short-ish putts. Unlike Bob, though, I didn't pull or push them. I just underestimated the slope around the hole. Bob can fix his pull; I don't know how to fix my misreads. Maybe Sloaner or Brad can help me calibrate my eyeballs?

Had a good round 2 as well, at least for me. Finished -2, with the highlight being the last hole of the Bear Trap, the par 3 17th. I got my first ace in tournament play! Followed that with a birdie on 18 to turn a disappointing round into a good one. Still no chance of catching the leaders, but there you go.

Thought there might be an issue with ghosts as in most event rounds I've played where I load up a couple of ghosts 1 is often playing to another pin and has different conditions. How the game can let me select your ghost when you haven't played is weird; it must load up rounds other than the current round !!
