I'll be down at the Irish Open here for the entire week, let me know if you need anything to help Its literally just 30 mins away from me I need so many things, I don't know where to start, lol. Maybe when I'm done with it I'll put together a list of things to look out for that are troubling me the most. In the meantime, if you see any kind of good course preview before the tournament, especially flyovers, let me know. I'm still pretty sure that I won't zero in on a lot of areas until I'm able to study the tournament footage like a maniac.

Some of these will look different as nearby holes like 11 and 14 get built, but I figured I had enough to put together some screenshots for 8-10. That brings a total of 11 holes to a state of near completion, and I'm starting to feel the momentum of being closer to the end than the beginning. 8th hole from the 7th hole dunes. A popular photo to players to snap, from what I can tell. I started putting in some houses across the water to try and get the same view. Ya of course - I've seen the Lahinch Golf Club Facebook page sharing a lot of imagery of the course lately in the buildup. My bro also works for Callaway so he'll be down there working for the week so I'll see can I get some bits from him too

Two more things done today. Finished what I believed is the signature hole, 11. Here's hole 11a, which is used during the winter. I may release a winter version later on with different textures, putting 11a and 5a in. Here's the main hole from the higher teeing ground, and with a much closer green to the water. A panoramic of this area of the course around 11, 12, 8, and 9. I only started working on the tees for 12 today and haven't done anything else with it, but I read that the ideal line off of the tee is 10 yards to the right of the iconic Dough Castle in the distance. Seemed like a good of time as any to try my hand at building it. For reference Looks good, ya anything on the castle line or right is perfect on the 12th. Left is game over for sure

Just two holes left!* *Plus going back over each hole a second time, plus more exterior details, plus somewhat elevating the Castle Course, plus grass. Par 5 12th approach The easily drivable par 4 13th Par 4 14th. The Bottle Hole. I have lots of pictures of this green, yet can't really discern the major undulations other than the front left area. Did my best. Par 4 15th. This hole has the least information I've found of any hole, especially the green. I really only have the drawing of the hole and one photo of the back right portion to go off of. And yes, that is a lateral water hazard right in front of the back tee. It shouldn't be in play for anyone, and no idea why it's there, but that is one thing that I actually have a picture of. Only the par 3 16th and par 4 17th are left, and I expect those to be done quickly. After that I'll be going back through my entire collection of materials, and touching up each hole with stuff that I missed, and with a better perspective of the overall plot with each hole sculpted.

So I've done a number of searches and Lahinch like to keep their course pretty much locked down in terms of flyovers etc I'm finding that social media is giving the best results for imagery. Head over to their page on Instagram instagram.com/lahinchgolfclub?igshid=8x59wt1o1pn1 and also do a search for Lahinch Golf Club location through Instagram. A lot of different images that you wouldnt typically get off the website.

There's a couple of vids at the bottom of their insta page, dunno if you've already seen those. Lots of aerial views there.
What a gorgeous course!

My only hope is they have some real or virtual flyovers on the coverage. I thought the graphics were really good for Hillside last week (although that was Sky Sports coverage on The Golf Channel, for some reason), so hopefully it will be the same for Lahinch.

I was using Google Street View to look at the dunes around the 16th green, and I stumbled upon a new back tee at 17: The street view image is from July 2018, and the overhead view without the tee is from 2017, so seems to be one that was added for the Open. I had to guestimate the exact location of the tee, so I'm thinking it will take 17 from 436 yards to about 470 yards. I'd be a little worried about what other holes have new back tees, but I seriously don't see many holes that either have the room to add a tee, or that need a new tee due to the fairway running out.

I'm actually surprised at that, because there is literally no room up there

Almost there. 16th tee 17th Par 4 I took a look at the Castle Course, and the amount of info on it is less than nothing. I tried to match the one picture I had for each hole, but without any info I have no intentions of trying to make this into a playable course. I just made it presentable. The last stage is next. I will go back through holes 1-18 in order, and scour all of my resources to see how well everything matches. In the process I will also add an ungodly amount of grass, any small details I missed like steps, and add in crowds. I am going to hold off on tournament items until I see where everything is located during the Irish Open. I don't know how long that will take, but I would safely say no more than 1-2 weeks if my schedule doesn't change.

The castle course actually is that straight forward tbh, the Castle does sit on a hill bit other than that it's fairly flat and straight forward.

I have grasses and other small details in for holes 1-8, and I also added some long range planting detail to make the whole plot look more realistic and less bare.
The multi-planting grasses are eating up my meter, down to about 20% left, so I've been single planting grass as much as I can tolerate. After I finish that that I'll do some playtesting rounds and likely make small tweaks to the greens.
I don't think I'll get a lot of time to work on this between now and Monday, so I'm thinking either late next week or next weekend.

I feel fairly confident in saying the planting is done.
Getting in a playtest tonight. Probably 2-3 tomorrow. Not sure of my schedule for this week but maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday publish.
