My shot of the week? Round 4, Hole 3, 3rd shot to set up par after a very poor approach that inexplicably came up 25 yds short:

A 67 and 65 to add to my R1 65 leaves me on -19 going into R3. Scoring has been mental on this course!
Never though id be disappointed with a -7 but when I was -6 through 9 I was hoping for more!
As long as R4 isnt a total disaster look slike ill have made the most of my exemption.

R4 winds are decent, the one warning I will make is to beware the 18th hole pin position, you will have to land above it and left then be careful of the downhill putt and crushing drop off. I don't think it's possible to attack the pin head on.

I actually had my best tournament score so far, since I've started. I had 69-75-69-71, for a total of -4.
But that 18th, on R4, I ended up with the nightmare position you speak of. My second shot ended straight on, about 25 yds before, and below the pin. I tried a flop, and sure enough the backspin made it role all the way back to me.
Luckily, I had this EXACT same position about two weeks ago on another course me and a buddy were playing in our own little 'practice' society. It was heavy on my mind, that I remembered hitting the ball 4 times, trying a shot just like that, and watching it roll back every time. So after the first one rolled back to me, I chipped it hard, and managed to make it stay close enough to the pin and above it, that I could finish the hole with a bogie.
I'd like to think that I have turned some corner, finally getting something to click about my tempo... but I notice everyone's scores are better, and those wide open fairways were very forgiving. So I'll wait and see because I think next week shall tell the true tale.

-5 for R4 giving my -24 for the week. Looks to slot me in around 50th which is just mental! Gets me that CC-D promotion though. Up and down round, few silly errors lead to 2 bogies and my approaches on the hole weren't good enough to rack up the birdies. Had a lovely 29 yard chip in for Eagle on one of the par 5s but other than that a pretty pedestrian round. I just couldn't crack that top 20 in CC-E! Then back to back weeks I've had CC-E top 20 scores which gave me the (S) with the second one hopefully keeping me in CC-D! Keep plugging away!

Lol I have had many close calls before, missing out by 1 shot. But like the other poster said , one day you miss by 1, then hit 3 exemptions in a row. That happened to me. Good luck next week at Pebble Beach everyone!

I've been putting in a lot of practice rounds at Pebble Beach lately.
I'm going to have a serious crack at qualifying. I'm thinking that about -30 will go close to winning the tournie. So far I have cracked -10 twice and a -9 as well but I'm still throwing out a few rounds at -3 & -4.
I will need a bit of luck to string 4 decent rounds together. Good luck all for next week! (not really, hope you all bomb out and I win easy lmao jks)

I thinks it's actually true.... practice really does help! Just played my R1 at Pebble Beach and after about 10 practice rounds I managed to do this. It's the first time I have ever shot sub 60 on any course!!! This is also the first tournie that I have used tour clubs. (thinking I might just stick with them lol) Pretty sure I will be sitting near the top in CC-E this week, just hope I can replicate for the next 3 rounds! Edit: Might actually have a chance at my first win! just went another 59 in R2!!
