Well I'm back here after making the wrong decision on which tournament to play last week (played US Open, and turned down my exemption to PGA - which I played as well and would have made the cut - oh well!)
So first off - this event confused the hell out of me - looked on the main site, saw RTJ GC etc - clicked on the course link - and it takes you to the 8100yd course that was played on WT/PGA about 2 months ago (and shows those events on the 'tour events on this course' section). OK fair enough - it's going to be a tough week......
Then play a practice round on the course with this name - and it's a totally different course! To be fair to mrvinegar206 it's a much much more enjoyable course to play than the monster!
So into the event - playing nicely for 17 holes (-10) despite gusty (9-15) winds, centre of the fairway at 18, and then suddenly fire my 7 iron approach off the planet left for no reason at all! Walked off making a good 10 footer for double and a disappointing -8. But one bad shot wasn't going to stop me - so played on.
-10 in R2 (lower winds), followed by -11 in R3 - which I was delighted with - as the wind on the back nine hits 18mph on several holes (mostly the long into wind par 4's - 12+13) Birdied 12 (felt like eagle), parred 13 (felt like bird) and then DID eagle the downwind par 5 14th from close range.
Round 4 started slowly (ish) before running off a bunch of birdies on the back nine, to dip under 60 for the round (59) and finish the event at -41
Hopefully that will be enough to get another exemption back to PGA for next week, as apart from that double in R1, I was bogey free for the week, and felt I played pretty nicely.
Good pick on the course Matt - combines a few easy holes with quite a few that could have a range of scores - but most importantly, I found the greens some of the truest I've seen.
And good luck to everyone who hasn't played yet

My first foray into the euro on exemption. Started of with a pair of 63's so I'm also sitting on -16 hoping it's good enough to make it.
Finished out at -29. Which is irrelevant if I miss the cut.
I liked the course. It's going on the list for the US leg of my RCR world tour.

Wow jeez, the wind was crazy! Last week, I fired a -10 on the first round followed by an awful even par round. I missed the cut, obviously. This week I felt I played really well in the 15-20mph wind and am sitting at -12 at the halfway point. We'll see I guess.

Put me down as the one of the confused guys once this course loaded up and I seen the first hole. I was fully anticipating playing a different RTJ course this week. Started off on the par train for a healthy chunk of the first half fighting the tempo off the tees. Had to do some scrambling to save some pars and then things got weird. After a bogey, I proceeded then birdie 5 of the next 6 or 7 holes and was feeling pretty good again only to give some of that back on the next two holes because of some tempo issues. Sitting at -1 heading into 18 I knew I had to play this hole well and try to establish some mojo for round 2. After a decent drive my 195yrd approach found it way to the cup....hit the pin....and of course....didn't fall. Just one of them days.
After running out to my truck to put on some old roofing boots so I could stand level on the fairways....I started round 2 with birdies on 7 of the first 9 holes. Some nip and tuck early on the 2nd 9 holes but stalled down the stretch with some lip outs and could not get the number past -11 as I finished up.
On the positive side...15 or so birdies and an eagle (I think) considering the conditions was just fine for me. I think this is going to be just short this week which is crushing when I look back on a double bogie par 5 and a handful of lips outs. Ah well....if nothing else I will go beat up on the Web guys for a week and then try this again.

Man that wind was difficult to play in. Managed -4 through the front nine while struggling badly with the wind. Turned it around on the back nine as my putter was on fire and I managed to hole out my approach on the 15th to shoot -9 for a round of -13.
Not sure I can put up with winds like that over three more rounds though.

Sitting 2 above the cut line on a Wednesday.....that's never a positive sign.

I love the course actually, a fair challenge. What does everyone think the cut will be? Debating spending time on my weekend rounds.
