I’d like to revisit the idea of an “everybody wins” tier, where participation trophies are handed out freely and every player gets orange slices and hugs from Mommy after they game complete each event. All events will be held on the driving range and practice green, and scores will not be kept.
We can designate it CC-Omega, and Wags can moderate it. It won’t be part of CC-Am or Pro, and there will be no advancement or demotion.
There will also be a private, stand alone Proboards page that only members of CC-Omega can participate on. Everyone will hold hands and sing Kumbaya, and nobody will ever be sad because the game is simply too hard for them.
Respectfully submitted,
IGB

(Cross posted from the CC-Pro discussion) I’d like to say the majority of us appreciate the efforts of the mods, who bring us the opportunity to play competitive golf every single week without asking anything of us. Set aside the complaints and show some gratitude. This is simply the finest run global sporting community out there, at absolutely no cost to you. In other news, this hack (I am the original bad golfer, after all), posted -29 for the event. It was tough but fair, and worth every bit of effort I put into it. Try practicing more than once and you’ll soon find that the course will yield scores. Cheers! 🍻 I mean, to be fair, it literally says "Click to Donate" in your profile. Well, "Click to Donote" but that's not TGC's fault. I practiced all week but I could never solve the greens on this one. Always had awkward in-between yardages, including off the tee. Never figured any of it out. And yes, I get that means I suck at this game. I've been saying that all along. But I'm allowed to give my feedback - as a low level CC-AM player, these greens may have been tough, may have been fair, and clearly people are scoring well on the course (people always do) - my feedback is that the putting this week was just not fun, the pin placements were in really difficult places. Especially when it showed no break on a ridge, but there was break anyway. That drove me nuts. You're certainly free to dismiss my feedback. Really tough course for players like me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If anyone can explain the theory behind the pin placements and the green difficulty when so many holes forced long approach shots, I'm all ears.

I rangered this one and like everyone else that rangered it felt it was much better suited to Am instead of Pro. Several holes are very scorable on and the landing areas off the tees are generous. I did recognize that this course probably sets up a lot better for player clubs as opposed to tour clubs. I found a few cases where the fairway ended right near the extent of the player club driver meaning a tour club player would likely have to club down taking away any possible advantage from using tour clubs. That was another reason this worked better on Am since it seems safe to assume you guys have a lower percentage of tour club users than anyone else does.
If you think this course was too difficult for Am then be prepared for a lot of frustration ahead as this was a consensus CCAm course amongst the rangers and schedulers.

The bottom line should be, hard course or not, we all play the same course so complaining about the course does no one any good. All the work the designers, rangers, and coordinators do is much appreciated. And, unfortunately, you will never make everyone happy, especially in a video game forum.

Plus, and this is especially true at the CCAm level you're picking courses to an audience that for the most part is trying to improve their game and move up. That'll never happen if you never play courses that challenge at least one part of your game. On this course you've got fairly easy tee shots but the greens are a bit tougher than you're used to. There's no huge elevation changes and fairway slopage is moderate at its' worst. So the only real challenge on this course is either focusing on your approach shots to get them as close as possible to take the emphasis off your putter, or get ready to learn a lot about how much different putts break because leaving long putts is not a great strategy here(Pro tip:it never actually is on any course).

So I've been sitting back reading through the comments and I've got a few things to say. The bottom line up front is, if you feel the course is too difficult then I can tell you right now you didn't prepare yourself this week. Several things to note here. As a scratch golfer in real life I like to give you real life designed scenarios that are going to challenge you. Yes, my course here is long. But hitting the right shot will absolutely reward you. I'm looking at a few CC-Z players with opening round 64's. I'm looking at a CC-E player at -12 and a two strike demotion player at -9 (63). Also a few two demotion strike players with 64's and 65's respectively. I'm also looking at CC-D where there is a two striker that shot -11 and -10 and a few FOUR strikers with -8's... These guys came prepared! Now, with that being said... If you came into my course this week without playing any practice rounds, that's where you messed up. Because I create holes and pins where you must execute smartly. Sometimes going for the driver isn't always the best play. Most of my courses always start out with around 3 tough opening holes... this is by design... I want to get in your head early... I want you to sweat the opening stretch before I release some of your pressure. A lot of my holes are designed for you to execute shots and know that you cannot and must not miss on a certain side of the hole... if you do you will be happy to save par. You must have patience on my courses and sometimes Par is a good score on a hole... again that's all by design. Yes, when I design I like to protect my courses from people shooting in the 50's but at the same time I also design it for you to be able to shoot a 60 or low 60's. But you absolutely cannot come out of the gate cold and expect to play well on my courses because as a designer each hole, landing spot, green break and pin location has been carefully thought out to know where the common misses are that will challenge you to recover and make you scramble well to save par. Now with that though I also like to create some very easy scoring holes as well to get your head back in the game. As a designer you will never make everyone happy... but the way I design is to create a very realistic looking / nature flowing course that makes you cheer and also makes you want to through your controller if you miss your landing spot. But well executed shots are always rewarded on my greens but you must, MUST practice before you play the tournament mode. And as I'm cruising through the leaderboards I can tell that many players did practice their butts off and their scores reflect it. Sorry this is so long but wanted to give you the story from the designer.

I'm currently 10th on the leaderboard, thank you. My complaint is why we bother testing courses for tier suitability at all? Why not just throw everybody to the wolves and let the chips fall where they may? Because apparently there is no such thing as a CC-AM level course. And that's fine. But please, let's not pretend that the schedulers and rangers go out there week after week making sure that each tier has the "proper" playing experience because some of the courses we've had to play that's clearly laughable. As far as I'm concerned, give us all World level courses. For one thing, that will give us more courses to choose from as I've been told (unless I've been lied to) that picking courses for CC-AM is difficult because there aren't that many "suitable" for CC-AM. Well, this solves that problem. Just make sure there are no illegal pins and the hell with course difficulty. Like it's been said, we're all trying to improve anyway and that's not happening if we're playing Little Brook Manor. So seriously, bring on The Beast and let's play some REAL golf. And thank you, but I'm declining the moderators job.

Disappointing Round 1 for me this time, struggled to a 71(-1). Many misplaced/miscalculated approaches leading to long putts.
Practice rounds were all over the place too, 65, 74, 72, 71, IIRC.That first round shows that I can score well on this course, the later rounds show that I just didn't. Same as my first round of the competition. Let's hope that I can get some confidence in my swing for the remaining rounds.
One of the first thing I noticed about this course is that it's definitely more suited to the Player clubs. Makes a nice change, wish more designers would cater for us plebs.
