It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our fellow member, my best friend for 18 years, 2tootall aka David Chappell has died. I have literally gamed with David every Friday night for that many years. We became gaming friends via PGA2k and never looked back. My husband and I were so fortunate to have David come and visit us this summer, as we were fortunate enough to visit him the last time when we were in the USA. I can remember my mother who had joined us for a day at Foxwood's and her meeting David for the first time, as well as us, saying "My God you are too tall! " towering over her, myself and my husband. She also confided in me that if she were 30 years younger she would have gone after him, it was a running joke with David and I ! I cannot express my sadness, my heart is totally broken. He was my 'brother in arms' my best friend and family to me.

It's these posts that shock our little virtual golf world into reality. Only chatted with him briefly once on discord but seemed like a fine person. Carol, my deepest sadness I feel is for you losing a great friend and for his family and friends loss. This picture shows a warm person, his absence will surely be felt for a long time. Consider a memorial event in IB for tootall at a course he liked the most? Again, my heart breaks for you, yours and his.

Wow...that's shocking to hear. I know how close you all were, the comradery and friendship was quite obvious on the few occasions I was fortunate enough to join yall for a round and a chat. Can't imagine how tough it is for you and your husband, so sorry for your loss.

This truly came as a shock to us this morning when we received the message, even if I used my own language I could not explain with words the emptiness I feel right now. David was here visiting us this summer and it was only a few days ago we were playing golf and talking on discord together. A true friend since many years has left us.

Maybe Doyley or SmilingGoats can do a commemorative tournament in his name. inflames47 you can do one with one of his favourite courses. We can reminisce about some of his favourite sayings like, 'I've gotta find something good to say about every shot and the best thing that I can say about that shot is it is so far to the right, there's no reason to go walk and get it." Dave had a sly sense of humour like that. Even when he told dirty jokes that were shocking, you still had to laugh cause he delivered them with such earnest and conviction.
I'm personally going to miss having him as my partner in Alt-ball. We'd play against Carol and Charlie and we ended our run with 6 wins each and 2 draws. It was always a challenge and a lot of fun. I'm ever so glad I got the chance to know him. We laughed and cursed together when we played. I'm going to miss you, you old fart!!

Ron, thank you so much for a beautiful write up about David, I know he would be thrilled to the max to know someone cared about him. I will contact SmilingGoats in the near future about a possible Memorial tournament for David. Last year I did the same for his wife who died of cancer and David was so grateful to me that I suggested this and it was accepted by the committee and we both played the Liz Chappell Memorial together. He literally was in tears of joy. My hopes are a can do the same for him. I am so happy to have introduced him to you, Brighttail , Doe Coba , @bigdogspee Ab(Anders Bergstrom) Ace Morphious,DDawg,@bulldawg180, hughjasskoda , tordragon forgive my English on the names he has gamed with us.. Alan Hughes, Frank Harneshaug, Michael Hansson, Colby, Janey Jane, Vlad, Terje Løvø,, Goblin, Dagollem, Robin aka Serenity, Jack aka Mildot, oh cannot forget Shardal best shooter other than deathstar to name a few. These names mean nothing to all of you, but to my husband and I, they were friends we made over the years and spent many of Friday nights with gaming. We are family- That song comes to mind, because certainly we were close nit. We connected together in a virtual world. Some laughed and said *get a life*... we had one and we made friends and connections that touched our hearts and David was one of the very best of them all. If I have missed anyone who has ever played with David, I am truly sorry.. he touched so many lives..what I remember the most is his love for all games. Dedicated to beat my ass no matter what he played.. we would argue , we would cuss, we would laugh and we would forgive and forget only to go on to another day of adventure, whether it was golf, All Tom Clancy Games, or Wreckfest, Insurgency, KillingFloor1 and 2, PGA Golf 2k, PGA99 where we first met, Flatout 2 and Ultimate Carnage ( holy hell did we love the Stunts.. Dave was sooo good at the High Jump! ) How can I ever forget Left for Dead 2 which he actually gifted to me and my husband and Frank! So ever grateful for that game as we played our hearts out killing those damn zombies! Racing games............... oh dear Grid 1 and 2, Dirt 2 and 3, Fuel (great game ) Trials Evolution and Fusion so much fun.. our newest Earthfall, Day of Infamy, oh and the fun of Super Mega Baseball(he had to play as a Yankee because he knows I am a Redsox Fan) Counterstrike, PadaY 1&2, Raid WWII (Doyce you love that game!! ) Bulletstorm, COD World at War. Gears of War, Golfing with Friends (a special favorite Doe Coba ! ) Homefront the Revolution, Gasguzzlers, Vancouver Winter Games! Blur, Depth ( we gonna need a bigger boat Dave!) Serious Sam 1, 2, and oh yes 3.. These are just a few of the wonderful evenings spent with a dear friend..All game were co op, played with friends.. he was our dearest friend... I love you Dave, I miss you Dave.. you have no idea how much you meant to all of us I Know this post means nothing to most of you, but to me it is my life with Dave Chappell for the last 18 years.. and it has been a wonderful ride .. love you dear friend and my virtual life in the gaming world is forever changed .
