I started rough sculpting today, getting the general plot elevations down. Surprised with the 100’+ delta from plot high point to low point, something I couldn’t pull off in original version with static water table. Obviously no longer an issue and really makes it much easier to elevate. There’s going to be some outstanding views with great elevation change coupled with a tightly packed course relatively thin on trees.
I test planted the 1st today just to get a look at the potential and it already looked so much better with downsized trees. The default size is just absurdly large and made the original feel claustrophobic in areas it shouldn’t have been. Now I can have trees closer to fw but smaller in stature.

Have been slowly making progress with elevating & sculpting over the last month. The course is looking pretty good sculpting wise, just need to add the fine tuned adjustments to each hole (mounds, humps, bumps etc). Next step is to start dialing in the greens. Pic looking at 18 green

Started on greens today, have 1-4 looking pretty good. Some greens are easier than others but hopefully this goes quick especially considering this is the 2nd time doing each.

Quick preview of 4 green. Kind of a unique green with the front right bowl area and some tricky pin positions, particularly the one shown in green guide below. Really thankful to have these great green guides, makes the RCR process so much easier with good data & info.

I'm back to work on South course in prep for TGC'19.
Here's a quick preview of the first 3 holes, unplanted but the majority of sculpting complete. Trying to get as much sculpted as possible then wait and see what new toys are available in the '19 designer to finish. Still some work left to do on the back 9 greens.

Now that I have Augusta complete in TGC'19 it's full steam ahead on Oakland Hills. I'm probably 90% complete with the sculpting work being done in TGC2 (it's so much better to work sculpting in TGC2 compared to '19) then moving on to planting in TGC'19.
Such a great classic course to me, you can see 8 holes from this view into the 6th green. I really have very minimal in course planting to do, this is a very wide open links style course with relatively speaking very few trees, most of my major planting effort is for the off course residential housing that plays a prominent role in the background view of many holes. The massive clubhouse is in view as far away as the 5th green on the complete opposite side of the course. This course uses approximately 2/3'rds the total plot as Augusta did, very very compact. South Course is well known for its diabolical greens....

I finished sculpting in the 16th & 17th greens, the only two that were remaining. I gave the front 9 a complete once over and worked my way to the 11th, few more holes to finalize and I will be publishing in TGC2 to plant and multi pin in ‘19. It’s getting close I can start to feel it.

I finally finished sculpting in TGC2 and published to import in '19, thankfully it imported without any issues and I was able to start the hole-by-hole planting process. Nothing fancy on this course, just classic parkland golf where everything is out in front of you to see and very minimal planting, very few trees on the actual course itself....took me an hour or so to plant the first 4 holes.
