Just for an update, and to consolidate the last page or so of posts, here is where we stand (I think). Ray is working on a sketch for his par4 idea, MrVinegar's par4 will be used for #16, James' par5 will be 18, and - unless anyone else has been working on a par3 and speaks up quickly - I'll go with a shorter version of Terry's par3 for 17 (already have 2 par3's of that distance, and another 200ish yard one. Am I leaving anyone/anything out? I really hope not... I said I'd make one, but I honestly haven't even started it, so unless you actually need another hole, don't worry about me. I'm in the same boat. Said I'd make one, life got busy, never got around to it. If you're done, no worries.

phoenixjay teaser... Obviously trees are turned all the way down, and it's far from finished (still need to sculpt green, for starters), but this is as far as I got on it today. Thought the view from the tee was pretty cool and wanted to share.

OK guys, I promised a beta last weekend...but that obviously didn't happen lol. I've just published "sketch1" if you'd like to give what I have thus far a go. Hole 15 (which is currently the last) will be 18, and I still have 16-18 to build out. Anyway, wanted to publish to at least check for any post-publish errors, but would love to have any of you guys to give it a try!

I'm not sure if you're still looking for holes, but I love sketching out golf holes, I just find the CC to be drudgery. I came up with a 440 yard par 4, sloping right to left with a tricky tee shot and a slightly elevated green. Be kind.

Couple more built out... Terry Grayson mrvinegar206 jarednich Ah man, you're about a day late! But...that said, I think this general idea has legs. It was my unsubstantiated belief that there are guys just like you out there - one's who love design, have a vision for it, but just hate the in-game designer - so I think there is a way to expand this concept beyond the few holes I've built on this one course. I'm not exactly sure how, but I do believe there is something here...hopefully I can put a bug in some of the other guys in the designer community (especially one's with vastly superior skill compared to me) and see if anyone has an idea. Anyway, sorry man! I was hoping that there wouldn't be any sketches posted in here that I couldn't include in the course, so that's kind of a bummer - very sorry for that. I really like the design though, for what it's worth. I was actually thinking through the course as it stands now to see if there was an existing par4 that I'd built which could be replaced by your idea, but I think it would be too forced. I'll say this - if I decide to try this again on my next course, I'll do it with all 18 holes, have it a bit more structured, and I would love for you to post that blueprint again. Oh, and you don't have anything to worry about in terms of people seeing it and thinking "oh whats this crap" it looks very well thought out and is nicely presented - good job!

Published "Sketch3b" today if anyone wants to try. @bigm The hole created using your general idea is #15. Forgot to take a couple of screenshots, but here is a really fancy drawing instead... Spent a bit of time on refining/adding environment/objects (won't see these on "sketch 3"), including: slight lighting change, removal of trees around greens to prevent shadows on putting surfaces, built clubhouse/Inn area, added retaining wall around #16 inlet, added multi-level water/stream with falls and stone dam-like-thing in the stream that bisects #4 fairway and cuts infront of #5 tee, added crowd for events...I'm sure that I am forgetting stuff, but that's the bulk of it I believe.

Here's the idea...I have a course currently in progress, and will be through the front 9 sometime this week. I can't be sure why, but the thought crossed my head that it might be cool to start this thread and invite anyone interested to throw out ideas for hole design. I will assume that this isn't the first time this concept or something similar has been done, but it at least hasn't happened in my time here. I'm not asking anyone to create and post a detailed, yardage book style, high res blueprint (unless you're really into that), but rather something as simple as opening Microsoft paint and sketching out an idea. That sketch would need to include at least a yardage so I can get a sense of scale, and other things that could be shown include: tee box shape/placement/angle, fairway routing, bunker placement/type, green angle/shape/positioning, water hazards or specific trees, and/or any elevation changes/slopes you had in mind. It can be as detailed or as vague as you would like - the purpose of this is just to have some fun throwing around hole layout ideas, and it certainly isn't my intent to have anyone sink a lot of time into creating a blueprint that ultimately may not be used. To provide a frame of reference for your thinking, the course is Swiss theme, tree-lined but not overly so, the plot started full flat and now has various ponds/lakes, and there isn't a great deal of elevation change on-course (most for any single shot thus far is +21ft).I do want to be clear that every sketch that is posted isn't guaranteed to be incorporated. I don't think that would be an issue, or even come close to it really, but just want to make sure I'm upfront with that so no one feels slighted. While I'm building the back 9, I'll look through here for any ideas and see if I can make them fit with the course, play fun and fair, and look nice (or as good as my abilities allow). This could mean that nearly an identical representation of a sketch turns into a hole, or it may mean that a few general ideas of a sketch are incorporated to an existing idea or combined with another sketch. I'm not really sure what the eventual outcome will be, and it will be a fluid process that is determined by whatever level of involvement I receive in this thread - but whatever that final product is, I'm hoping to have a bit of fun along the way. My main goal is to get some involvement in design from the community in the quickest/easiest/most simple way possible. That may mean a fairly specific sketch from a well known designer, or a quick idea from someone who has aspirations of designing their 1st course but haven't quite gotten over the mental hurdle of learning everything that is the TGC Course Designer. I want to encourage anyone with any ideas to throw them out, that's part of the enjoyment of the process. Then, as the course is being built, I will try to update this thread with WIP pictures, and hopefully whatever level of involvement I get here will help to create some sense of investment in the final product. Or, in the possible event people read this and think "No thanks, I'll keep my ideas to myself you lazy ass," then I'll build the back 9 in-house . My main reservation with this idea is having people come to the conclusion that I'm trying to outsource hole design because I'm out of ideas, or because I think it will be easier than coming up with them on my own - that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm simply looking to have a bit of creative fun with anyone who thinks this is an interesting idea, and I honestly have no idea how this will go - so we'll find out together. So...what do you all think? This is obviously something I haven't done before, so I'm very open to any and all ideas, suggestions, etc. Please feel free to speak up if you have those. I will reply to the OP with an example of what I'm talking about, but if there are more questions about the general concept here then fire away and I'll do my best to answer. Hopefully a few others find this an interesting idea, because I think it could be a lot of fun - looking forward to seeing some of the creativity this community has to offer! I LOVE this idea so much. I’ll get to work when I can!
