just played it, shot -5 with 2 bogies in 10-15 winds so its tough but very fair play wise. Looks wise its awesome, the best version of st andrews yet. ive been there so many times and get what you were doing up the side of 17 and 18. when you get tgc2, will you be seeing if theres anything they have added to it that might make this masterpiece any better, ie camera towers like at the open? on a side note, i will use this in my fourball final.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This course is just AWESOME!! I'm disappointed I have to play my May elimination round and my PGA rounds, because it takes time away from me playing this course. I've already played twice and I'm going back for a third after I write this. Seriously great course. This looks so good and close to the real thing. I'm only basing that from all of the years I've watched the British Open ( I'm old school, I will always call it the British Open ) Thank you so much for all the time you obviously put into this. We have hundreds, if not thousands of great courses, and this for me is one of my favorites if not my all time favorite. It truly is fantastic how close to the real thing this looks. I can see Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus walking up the 18th when I play Right off the bat on hole 1 you know you're in for a treat. Anyone that really likes golf should play this course. For those that might complain about the greens...they're spot on. Here is an RCR that is not easy. Played with pretty high winds just a moment ago 13-15mph and the course played great. And yes some pins are super tough and crazy down wind...just like it should be. This course should have several thousand plays and if we ever play the British Open an any other course in this game, that would be a TRAGEDY! Super work here, and looking forward to the other versions. Take your time as I know you will. The previous comment about TGC2 and TV cameras, I think would be really cool...and even some crowds around the 18th?? Thanks again!

Yeah great rendition and eminently playable. After CLV fine tunes it (post actual Open and TGC2) this course will literally get hundreds of thousands of plays. Great job on this one designer. We've been waiting a long time but it was worth it. Thank you, in advance, for many hours of pleasure playing the various versions.

Incredible creation this is. Been waiting for someone to do st. andrews justice. There are a few ok ones on the game, but this one destroys them all. Actually got excited for the 17th tee shot at the 14th or 15th tee as I could see the hotel in the distance. When I finally got there the wind was perfect. Hit it over the corner 320. As I've seen so many pros do. Thanks so much for this build. Great work. 10/10 added to favourites

Well I was hanging up my virtual clubs for a couple of weeks - all rounds done for this week and off on holiday on Friday - but then I saw this thread and had to fire it up! Just as with Magnolia, it's not simply the rendition of all the holes, it's the way you seem to be able to capture the essence of the course and transport a person sitting on their sofa with a controller in hand to these special places. It's a brilliant RCR, perfect. 65 for my first effort in mainly 10-15 winds, in my face on the way out, behind me on the way back. I'm sure I'll get plenty of chances to improve that and test out other wind directions. EVERYBODY should play this course, and they probably will

One comment after playing:
INSERT KREYGASM HERE
and I think I may have jizzed in my pants a bit on 11, after the incredibly stupid and ridiculous version I played just before this... great work!

Great job can't wait to play the course you would do a great job with Cypress Point for TGC 2 if you choose to do the course.

Sooooooooo worth the wait! Despite 13-14 mph winds, I managed to stay out of the gorse and the sand, but my putter let me down en route to a -2 that I'm still happy with. Beautifully done. I've walked along part of the course IRL, and have to say I'm blown away by how close this is to the real thing!
Will be back here again and again. Many, many thanks for creating and sharing this with us!

gavlaar124 we were just talking about this last night.... The Master has created the Masterpiece. Gonna give it a bash now. Edit: Gave it a bash. 15mph winds. TST style. Blimming amazing. -2 round. Highlights being: Being a foot short on a 71 foot putt where I had to use the greens undulations for a massive left-to-righter up and down a mound and; Nailing a tough 10 footer for Par on the Road Hole. Edit2: Not really a knock (How could you knock this course - It's Brilliant) but the tees were slightly long for our golfers in places. Hole 9 with a 15mph wind behind was still not drivable. However, I understand these are the Championship Tees that were used in the Open so this is understandable. It should be driveable with Tour clubs in TGC2.

Thanks for the plays so far guys. I'll definitely being seeing what kind of additions or changes I can make in TGC2, assuming the course publishes successfully in that game at a current size already of 1800kb.
So far the prevailing wind seems to be headwind on the front and tailwind on the back. I actually find the tailwind to be a little more difficult to play in. On subsequent editions I would probably move the 8th tee for this Thursday pin, and I'll likely move the 12th tee up at some point depending on pin location. I don't think I will move 9 up, though, unless maybe for a left pin location. Otherwise I think that hole, or maybe the 6th, might be the most bland on the course.
