Interesting point made on TV by an analyst. Last time the weather was wet, cold, and windy was '07. Zach Johnson won by wedging it around. A medium to low ball flight, plotter-type like ZJ, Ryan Moore, etc. could be a dark horse. Interesting point, Matt. Ryan Moore seems like a good fit for Augusta but his past record would dictate otherwise.

Just saying a plotter, not a bomber might surprise cause of the weather.... though someone also mentioned Rory's liking of gross weather majors...

I don't think Rahm has the temperant to keep his head if he's in contention on Sunday at the Masters - he lost it at the beginning of the matchplay final (and then gathered himself, granted)
I quite fancy Mickelson if he can keep it on the property off the tee.
Could be DJ's time though - biggest favourite for any major going in since Tiger in his prime?

I bet on 3 players... DJ at 5/1, Matsuyama at 22/1 and Fowler at 15/1.
DJ - Because he's DJ
Matsuyama - Really coming into his own recently, i like the 22-1 on him here.
Fowler - Seems like no one ever takes him seriously, even though he did win at the "5th Major" (Sawgrass). Appears he has been working hard on his game recently so I gave him a chance.

Agree and disagree with rahm if he manages to have a lead going in to final round i agree i think he will struggle but if he is only 2 or 3 behind going in to round 4 i think he has a great chance as shown at torrey pines, once he gets hot the kid is special. going to be a tough to pick a winner if the weather predictions are true so much luck needed when the weather picks up but its hard to bet against DJ right now has so much control over his game, fancy louis o will go well also kuchar seems to play well there the last few years

I would like to see Rory McIlroy get his green jacket.
Dark horse Lee Westwood plays the course well and needs a major.
Last but not least I like Justin Rose.

Further analysis of the weather:
Thursday - High around 60F. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. Wind chill around 40F.
Friday - Sunny with gusty winds. High 66F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph.
3 of the par 5s will not be reachable the first two days. 13 plays NW then W. 15 plays W. 8 plays N, but the tee shot will be blown toward the fairway bunker and away from the bend left at the green. That is why a plotter wins in those conditions in Masters past.
Some additional fun facts. 1, 3, 4, and 11 play into the wind. 12 has a down off the right.... so you aim over Rae's Creek. The wind helps you on 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, and 17. Notice that these are some of the shallowest greens on the course. 2 has fronting bunkers, 5 has the large fronting ridge, 7 has the fronting bunkers, 14 has the large fronting ridge, 17 has fronting bunkers.
So, the ONLY hole this wind direction helps is 9, and you could argue 2. THAT'S IT.
If we use 2007 as a reference, the WINNING SCORE was +1. You read that right. +1. "The third round saw the worst playing conditions in many years at Augusta on an unseasonably cool day with wind gusts reaching 33 mph (53 km/h). The conditions were clearly a factor as no scores broke 70 for the round." We will have two days of these conditions. And a cut will be made after them.
Good luck betters. You'll need it just as much as the players.

Weather conditions favour Hadwin. He grew up playing in rain and wind here in the Pacific Northwest. If he can just play his game and keep the fact thats it's the Masters out of mind to some degree, the kid's got a chance.

Hmmmm... I'm also thinking about spending a bit of money on Sergio!
He's long overdue of winning a Major, and I'd say that rough weather conditions might be advantageous to him.

Rose & Garcia on top of the leaderboard! Not so bad with my predictions thus far. Take that Green Jacket to Europe, dudes!
